Cue Masters @ Lucky Shots, Monday @ 6pm in Sweet Dreams

Well I guess I should start off by wishing everyone a happy 09, and hoping you’s all enjoyed the Christmas period as much as I did. However, enough of that cheery bull shit, the inter-leagues are starting back up, the festivities are over, and it’s time to knuckle down and get back to some oh-so serious Y!Pooling! As the shine of the new season wears off, for most leagues it’s a case of having to keep on scrapping through games and trying to put as many points on the board as possible, or face the horrific reality of being left out of contention for the WPC World Cup!

On the other hand, for a small group of leagues, particularly the two involved in this match up, (as well as PFN in the Eastern Conference - I wouldn’t include Xtreme 8 Ball in that group yet since they are still to prove their worth as a team with a 17-7 game record) – having picked up at least 9 points from their first 4 matches will realise that they have put a sizeable distance between themselves and the cluster of teams chasing play-off spots. Since 4 teams from each division will earn a spot in the post-season, Cue Masters have a 7 point and Lucky Shots a 6 point safety net going into this match-up. Although these deficits can easily be made up in a short matter of weeks these teams are now no longer just after a play-off berth; they are surely now seeking to win the conference outright, which makes this match all the more interesting.

I have to admit, as far as CM go, I’m really not very well informed regarding their players, but having beaten MP and SS already this season you’d think they definitely have the capabilities to beat this LS side. LS are capable of playing at just about as high a standard as any other league in WPC, but have shown this season already that they won’t always be on top of their game. I think they have good enough players to say that they should win this game and, being in now perhaps the slightly easier conference, kick on to grab the #1 seed spot come play-off time. Despite that, if that’s what they intend to do, they can’t afford many more (if any) performances like week one when they were totally dismantled by HS.

Everything about this match is pointing towards the draw – two very decent sides that aren’t performing amazingly well at the minute but are getting wins on the board. However, something tells me CM have ridden their luck a little already this season to get to where they are, and I’m compelled to take LS for the win on Monday.

Match Odds: CM (15/8) Draw (Evs.) Fav. LS (11/8)

Match Prediction: LS 4 – 2 CM LS win in 6

I should have the match report up before Wednesday. As for the other games, Jason’s already covered them in more depth than I can. Good luck to all the leagues starting back up and a warm welcome goes out to X8B and ORP. Thanks for reading. In a bit. Ogges.

Match 1

--------------------Match of the Week---------------

Cue Masters @ Lucky Shotz

Date and Time: Monday 5th January @ 6pm

Room: Sweet Dreams

Ref: Ogges

This is a battle of first and second! Lucky Shots lost to High Timez back in week one and that was it! LS have not tasted defeat since, but they play a CM side that have tasted defeat but that match got over turned and they are flying at the top of the conference. CM need Luke(enabled), Lisa and you_might_lose to show up and play well. CM have been ona roll as late and I am curious to see weather they can keep this up throughout the seasona nd show some doubters they can take this match and go on to win the WPC World Cup. LS will need to be sharp here, who will bev bring no one knows but with players like Raymie, Rach and Justin only played a bit part so far i would expect them to figure some more through out the rest of the season.

Players in form:

Justin and Rach have been playing well in LS lately
CM can always rely on You_might_lose and Enabled to win there games.

Players out of form:

Me, jason. I have not been playing well lately
Can Lisa step up to the plate once again?

Key Men

The captains, I know I say that a awful lot but i wonder who each will bring and how will Bev counter her friend Lisa in the picking players tactics

Odds

LS - 2-1
Draw - 3-1
CM - 4-1

Prediction

Well I play for LS but i actually feel a CM win coming on here, so i will go for 4-2 CM and they start to race away for the regular Championship.

Match 2

True Champs @ Sexy Poolerz

Date and Time: Monday January 5th @ 7pm

Room: Bicycle Room

Ref: Jane

So TC played PDZ just before christmas and gave a very very good account of themselves. They grabbed a draw in there first match and i heard that they thought they deserved a win. Usually i would have agreed but the team they played Pool Dragonz are the nicest team in WPC so i dont begrudge them a draw. True Champs play a tricky Sexy Poolerz side who you never know which team will show up. SP can be absolutely top class, or absolutely garbage. I watched there 6-0 defeat to PFN and they were pants however the next week they came out and were spectacular. I dont see anything other than a SP win this week. They have players like Danny, Ketan and Dan who I think is going to play for them. Can TC get anything out of this? Sure they can but will they? well if the SP turn up that I know they wont but I see SP doing it the hard way(they know no other way)

Players in form:

Danny for SP from what i have seen lately is in great touch
Mike for TC always plays well.

Players out of form:

I honestly dont know of any that i can see.

Key Men:

I'm going to go a little different here, Ketan has to play well if he plays cause from what i have seen either he, or Aarom kick off for SP and it usually sets the tone for a SP match. If one of them win usually SP will win. TC just have to throw it to SP early put SP under pressure like PFN did to some point then TC have a chance but its just a little chance.

Odds

SP - 1-2F
Draw - 2-1
TC - 4-1

Prediction

Well its going to be a SP win i think but the question is what score? SP are a very difficult team to predict for so i will go 4-2 SP with a wobble

Match 3

High-Timez @ Straight Shots

Date and Time: Tuesday 6th January

Room: All Mixed Up

Ref: Jess
Admin: Jason

This is a possable upset match! Yes you heard it in Sports Scene first SS CAN beat HT if they play to there ability which they have NOT been all season. If you look at there other interleague I.P.A there in second place. In WPC there 1 but bottom. So whats gone wrong you might ask? Well its simple, there Captain has gone AWOL which might not be a bad thing as the likes of nigel himself, Steven or Shelle could do the job a damn site better. SS are a big league and they wont be happy at being this low down the order in 6th place. They play a High Timez crew who are buzzing! They just lost 2nd place to the improving LS team but they are challenging for a 1st place finish! HT came into this WPC season 3 with high hopes i must admit i didnt share them high hope but now i do oh yes! HT are going to be in the playoffs(although with ORP in they might challenge more about that later!). Can HT win WPC? sure they can once your in the playoffs anything is possable will they win this week? Lets look and find out.

Players in Form

For HT i have been told chris has been in form over the christmas period can he carry that on into the main event?

SS have steven, shelle and i am roadie in for but will they feature?

Players out of form

Not so much out of form but craig and steve have parted company for SS will that be a loss?

Key men:

not so much key man in this but the key to this game is SS. Will they get many supporting them in there room if they do it will lift the whole team and you will see SS win ths i think

Odds

SS - 3-1
Draw - 4-1
HT - 4-1

Prediction

This will be a close run affair and SS will steal it in the 6th! SS wins 4-2

Match 4

Pool Dragonz @ Xtreme8Ball

Date ant Time: Tuesday 6th January

Room: Alive

Ref: Heather
Admin: Jason

Welcome to WPC X8B! They take over PCZ's stats and we will see if they can keep it in a playoff place. They have already picked up Adam from Freedom and they have done well in PRO so i expect them to be int he playoffs in 9 weeks time. PDZ on the back of there first ever points in WPC will be brimming with confidence and will look to shock X8B in the first couple off games and try to show them there is no easy match in WPC but i dont think this will happen i see X8B storming this one here although PDZ will look to take them down and atleast try to grab a draw off them.

Players in form:

Adam is in form going by cam sets and he will have to be watched by PDZ, who have rbl_outlaw in form

Players out of form:

I cant find any but we will see on the day

Key Men:

Adam will need to be on top of his game to help X8B to the Win whereas PDZ as a team have to work together and show X8B how its done.

Match 5

Magic Pool @ Over-Rated-Poolerz

Date and Time: Wednesday 7th January @ 6pm

Room: Advanced Lounge 2

Well, Well, Well Magic Pool make a quicker return to there old home than they thought they would. MP moved to My Michelle then along came Over Rated Poolerz and took the room for there new league but they got some wonderful players in ace (Mina) and Nick. They will get a good squad of players together and i see them making the playoffs even witht he low placed starting point. They play MP who have finally got the league back on track and with Jordy in charge too surely they will start winning soon. Players like Ian, Mick and Jordy himself dont do losing all the time. Can they get something from this we will most definatly see it will be close.

Players in Form:

Jordy and Nick have been performing very well of late and it will be interesting if these two get together espeically as Nick HAS to play all his games on cam in WPC.

Players out of form:

Well Mick wont liek this but he has been poor this season he really needs to step it up a gear or two or even three this season.

Key Men

Jordy and Nick it has to be game 6 MP 3-2 up and Nick needs to win to draw.

Odds

ORP - 3-1
Draw 2-1
MP - evsF

Prediction

Nick gets the better of Jordy in game 6 to tie it up at 3-3

Match 6

----------------UPSET SPECIAL---------------

Pool Fiction @ Latino Pool Legends

Date and Time: Wednesday 7th January @ 7pm

Room: Logan (international)

Ref: Ross

What a match Ross has himself here. PFN vs LPL the REMATCH. LPL won this last season in the final to take WPC season 2 and condemn PFN to a second Finals defeat in 2 seasons. This is HUGE!!!! theres some old scores to settle amongst some PFN players i am naming no names but i expect a stacked, absolutely stacked PFN side to show for Kev or Sean depending who captains. LPL will have there work cut out. Tino usually rallies his troops to perform when they play the bigger teams and this dont get any bigger but i am going to say they have to show witht here strong 6 and prove they can defend this. Even though PFN will show with a stacked team we will see how they do against the latinos. Korban and Player dude must perform and play well if they do then LPL could have a day to remember.

Players in form:

Chex and Cubby are playing well at the moment and thats the match i look forward to most if they play but i expect them too.

Players out of form:

Korban was a all star player last seasona dn hes struggling this season
Kev hasnt played for a bit and will he be rusty or will he even play.

Key Men:

Cubby and Chex i expect a match up between these two probably on cam. Also key for this match is will there be any sledging(if you dont understand that ask kerry or any other aussie)

Odds

PFN - 2-1F
Draw - 3-1
LPL - 4-1

Prediction

This will be my shock of the week and Tino gets his players playing well and wins this match 4-2

Theres the blog for the week take all and have fun in the matches
