Week 11

Hello and Welcome to Sports Scene Week 11 where this week I will talk about the upcoming WPC Allstar events and the playoffs.

Last week was a very successful week as only one person got boxed and that guy was Shane from Lucky Shots(ls_x_powerplay_x). The matches was not too bad either as on Monday FR somehow forgot that they had a game against Simply Pool Souls. THREE showed up and my friend Jack still didn't realize when a match is told to be canceled and you don't then expect to face the consequences. Luckily for Jack Mike cleared it to win AFTER Jack himself had gone on to carry on and try a 'snooker' that he just wanted to see.

Simply Pool Souls under Kat and Monte will prosper next season as they have hit a bit of late form and this season was just being used as a step up to see if they had what it takes. They have as long as they keep the players they have now. I will pick out Gunslingericu who if he has a good last 2 or 3 weeks could find himself in the Allstar draft on the 12th December, when the best 14 players in WPC season 5 are selected one by one by the two winning Captains.

In the Tuesday big match, Cue Masters vs Sexy Poolerz it was a interesting match up because CM on there day can hit it with the best of them. Sexy Poolerz saw that LPL got a free BYE win this week ( they get one after thanks giving week too) and new to stand a chance they would have to make sure they beat CM. They didn't as amazingly Cue Masters pulled out a draw. Ok this was only because SP's 6th player Ste timed out as his Comp fucked up but hey its a mistake by SP and CM profited in a match I am sure SP would have won because Ste in my book is far better than Chele.

Lucky Shots played Latino Pool Legends and gave them a mini scare as they were only beaten narrowly 4-2. Ant has got LPL qualified and now clear from Sexy Poolerz with 2 byes to come to SP's last week bye. The thing about this match was LS got it to 2-2 but they ran out of players(the common theme in WPC for last season's Champs). LPL would probably have got a point but if someone like Tonzmaniac or even Aaron had bothered to get himself re-eligable then things would have been different.

Xtreme 8 Ball powered into 3rd place after thumping hapless Brit Pool 5-1. X8B have a great shot at the playoffs this season as Ben works his magic and keeping big names quiet (in Adams cases impossable). BP after promising so much I think will look forward to the Plate Playoffs and most probably being top seed for that. The thing is though Trey is very competitive and will still be looking at the slim chance of making the proper playoffs and that could now be at former 3rd placed Magic Pool's expense.

That leads me perfectly into the MP self Destruction that has occurred as they went from 3rd to 6th in the space of 3 days. The team that beat them last week was XP and they beat them convincingly 5-1. If this week was anything to go by, forget the 3rd seed and concentrate on not letting a BP team who will be chomping at the bit to take them. If that happens it will be the biggest collapse since Newcastle United blew a 15 point lead at the top of the English Football/(Soccer if your American) Premiership.

So there is the recap lets talk about the All Stars and the Gold Giveaway tourney at the end of the Allstar week.

The Allstar schedule will look like this. The 7v7 best of 14 is the main event and will happen on the Monday. This will consist of only the best 14 players in WPC this season based on stats but also Clinches and MVP's, along with also Behavior. If there is a guy and lets use Jack as a example, who has been boxed for a none report and for disrespecting the Ref, then you can forget taking part in this Main WPC Allstar event.

The Draft will be published at the end of week 13 on Tuesday 7th of December and the two Captains of the top 2 teams in WPC(as long as they want to do it) will pick from that draft on the Friday and the teams will be published on the Saturday with the match taking place on the Monday. This is a brand new thing for Interleagues and I will belooking to make the Ref of the Season(Either Cubby or Ella at this time) to be the Ref with Bev no doubt probably going to be the Admin for it. This will most probably start at 6pm as its best of 14.

On Tuesday there will be a Reg 8 Single Elimination for those top 14 players too with a surprise prize for the winner(and its not a Yahoo Membership).

The Wednesday is a All Star Bootem where each team may pick 2 players to take part and claim the All Star Bootem Trophy for them and the Team Trophy(Nigel is going to love me!)

Then the big one on the Thursday at 7pm with Steven. Everyone who has played in WPC this season(whose team lasted to the end) may enter and this is a Gold Give Away tourney hosted by Steven for a years Gold in there league. It is very generous of Steven to do this and I want to thank him for it. Also Andy will get his gold either this Friday or next Friday for winning the most EXPO's LAST Season! Yes I was a little bit late but I have not forgot. WTG Andy.

So that is everything covered now to the predictions this week.

So with Latino Pool Legends and Brit Pool both receiving early week BYE's the first match this week happens today and it is:

Xtreme Poolerz vs Cue Masters

This is now quite a interesting little match up as CM drew with SP last week, but SP beat XP 6-0 the week before but XP beat MP 5-1 last week, Following? Thought not, in summery this is a close match up. If CM show with the players like last week and XP show with the firepower of when they beat MP last week then XP should win. With the likes of Cubby and Indiana_Elite in the running for the All Star Draft then anything can happen(for the record Cubby is only just in the running :P). If both teams show up at there strongest then I would favor XP who need about one more win to garentee Cubby and his Gang a playoff spot. If they ain't prepared then this CM team will do what they did to SP and grab a draw, it won't happen this week though.

Simply Pool Souls vs Lucky Shots

Now this could be a great match is LS can get 6 because SPS are now starting to go places and really putting there mark on WPC. Kat and Monte has had some bad weeks but by god they have had some amazing weeks. Players like Daquiet and Guns should really hold there heads up high and next season will be a far better season for this team I am sure. Lucky Shots however this season will just like to forget it lol. The reigning Champs will become the first team not to get into the playoffs while holding the WPC Championship. Lucky Shots however are far better than the last place they are in but SPS are just plain better at the moment and a big thumbs up to the league that is regarded as one of the fairest in WPC!

Magic Pool vs Xtreme 8 Ball

This is Match Of the week by far and why the hell I writing such a long blog I have no idea but it is good for once :D. MP had a horrible defeat to XP last week, was this a blip and XP were inspired or did MP play bad and XP profit? We will see this week as MP take on the team that hold there old position of 3rd in X8B and Ben has a good team now. They should easily make the playoffs and will have a favorable draw by getting home advantage at least once as long as they hold on to 3rd. Chris on the other hand needs Steve and Missy and Ian to really step up to the plate now as Steve is the only one really with a decent record. Ian and Missy are the next best players along with Chris and if they don't pick it up this week then X8B will destroy MP.

Sexy Poolerz vs Freedom

CALLING FREEDOM YOU PLAY ON THURSDAY AT 7PM. Yes they didn't know when they played last week and with Jack boxed, leaving FR very light in players but they still have enough to cause SP some serious trouble. Will Petey show with his team though as they might be out of the playoff race but they have a Plate playoff still there and if UIC is anythign to follow they would have a chance at winning it lol. SP need to bounce back and quick as the pack are catching them after there slip up against CM last week. This is a big test of Pete and Ketan's SP team this week but one they should come through because lets face it its not UIC :P.
