WPC Blog Week 2 and write up of teams and week 1

So I might not be Head Admin anymore but I am going to go back to my roots and do predictions.

Welcome to Season 9 of WPC and it is a lot more different than recent times. Steven is now Head Admin and Kris is added as Admin to go with the core of the usual admins.

This season sees 8 teams taking Part.

So I will go through each team in reverse order of where I think they will finish.

8th Place: Deep Pockets

Key Man: Rich (wacky_1999)

Previous WPC Experiance: None

I don't really know much about Deep Pockets but Rich is there and chatter who can be good. They don't have all that many players signed up at the moment. They lost to SP 4-2 in week one and I think it will be a uphill struggle for them all season. They must add some depth to there squad asap if they are to do any good at all.

7th Place: Simply Pool Souls

Key Man: Trent

Previous WPC Experiance: Made Playoffs a Couple of Times

Simply Pool Souls are a extremely friendly league and always give there all. They actually actually have a few good shooters but rely on a core 3 or 4 of Kat, Trent, Joe and John. If they are to finish anywhere near the playoffs they will need to recover quickly from the week 1 defeat to CZ. SPS have the quality to mount a good run but they will fall just short in my opinion.

6th Place: Extreme cues

Key Man: Crozzy

Previous WPC Experiance: tried and thrown out a few times

EC are back and this season it looks like they may just last the season too. They have a few good shooters in Crozzy, y.poo1 look good players here but they need some lesser names to come up good for them this season too. Week 1 wasn't the best for EC losing 4-2 to SS, who will be up there come the end of the season, but these 3 and possably SZ will be the 4 battling to be the best of the rest. I think with a good run mid season EC could really challange but can Croz and y.poo1 come up with vital wins every week. Expect Crozzy to make the Allstars but that will be that as far as EC go this season.

5th Place: Sicc Skillz

Key Man: Mr.PAKiZ_RULES

Previous WPC Experiance: None

I wasn't sure about these until last night when they played SPS but I soon found out these are gonna abuse the Coaching rule to the extreme. Ok people will argue theres coaching so let them but Suki was telling most players how to shoot. These will come up short against the likes of SS and FR and will not make the playoffs. I would love to be proved wrong but I think SP will finish above these here, they look the makings of a good team though.

4th Place: Sexy Poolerz

Key Man: Adam

Previous WPC Experiance: WPC World Cup Runners up: Season 5, WPC Regular Season Winners: Season 5

So Sexy Poolerz are back because I aint in the Admin Team anymore and welcome back SP. It seems a long time ago when they won the Regular season but came up just short in the WPC World Cup Final. Ste and Keten are still there but Adam is also there and I don't knwo how many make playoffs if its 6 then SP should just squeeze in if its top 4 then they need a big effort this season but its not beyond the relms of possability. If SP make the playoffs then the big names need to perform and Ste and Keten are two wise guys. Bev has also got a role to play this season as capt or co capt.

3rd Place: Dead Strokes

Key Man: Dr_Pepsmear

Previous WPC Experiance: WPC Regular Season Western Division Season 8: Winners

Dead Strokes made the plaoffs regularly in WPC and won last season Western Division. Dr. Pepsmear moves from SS to DS and will be a valuable addition to the team. Roy will need to perform this season along with Trapster. I think DS will sail into the Playoffs again this season by finishing 3rd.

2nd Place: Straight Shots

Key Man: Jon

Previous WPC Experiance: Season 7: WPC World Cup: Winners Season 8 Regular Season: Winners

Straight shots will go head to head for the top spot with Freedom. Straight Shots have a great squad but FR have the bit between there teeth at the moment. Jon, Pita and Pascal will need to really have a good go at each team if they are to win the WPC Regualr season. SS will no doubt think they can win it but expect them to walk the EXPO.

1st Place: Freedom

Key Man: Petey

Previous WPC Experiance: WPC Season 7 Regular Season: Winners, Season 8 Regular season: Runners up

Freedom stroll in for another season of WPC and Petey must feel confident as BNR and PFN are not in so players like Petey and Ben. Freedom are most definatly going to be up there at the end of the season. If Freedom show up in form they will only need to worry about SS but sometimes they can just come up short.

Ok lets look at week 2 matches.

Sicc Skillz vs Extreme Cues

So EC lost 4-2 and SZ won 4-2. SZ are from what I saw a one team with Suki telling 99% of the shots to take when he aint playing. EC were unlucky and if they show and play the way they did last week they will have a serious chance to get one over on there rivals here. If Suki is allowed to take over it might get ugly but I am going to sick my neck out on the line here.

Score: 4-2 EC

Simply Pool Souls vs Straight Shots

So I go back to the team I walked out on as SPS get two home days in in 2 weeks as SS are welcomed as the away team. SPS have a semi strong roster, Kat always performs in WPC and Monte can be a threat although he is aging a bit. Joe, Me and Trent will need to come up big this season and the likes of Tj and heather have to be thrown in. SPS have nothing on SS as they look so so strong and Pascal, Jon and Pita must perform at the top of there game!

Score: 5-1 SS

Freedom vs Deep Pockets

Freedom look to be onto a good thing this season as Petey sees a semi weak league and thinks this is Freedoms for the taking. Deep Pockets are going to have really work hard to get anything at all. Freedom will bring there strongest team as a fixture like this has bitten Petey in the Ass before.

Score: 5-1 FR

***********Match Of The Week************

Dead Strokes vs Sexy Poolerz

This has match of the week all over it and with Dead Strokes drawing 3-3 with Freedom they show that they will be up there this season. Roy and Co. are definately going to be well up there this season. Sexy Poolerz picked up a valuable win and they could well pick up another win here. Ketan, Adam and Ste need to really buckled down here and these will get my Shock of the week tag.

Score: 4-2 SP

I dont know how many people will read it but let me know what you think please

Final Week

We begin the final week of WPC with a match that means nothing.

DS vs PDZ - Monday 6PM AFITC - DS and PDZ are the bottom 2 teams in WPC so this will be a match of willpower and determination... Not to finish as the worse league in WPC! DS has some good players as they have solid records in other interlg's but for some reason they can't seem to get anything together in WPC. PDZ came in mid season and have tried to but something together but came up just short a few times. DS being home, Chuck and Chele bringing in the big guns to finish strong will hold off a stingy PDZ team 4-2.

November 03, 2010

Final Match of Week 12

Sorry for not getting Tuesday's match up but I put in a whole day at the polls working for the election. Doing my civic duty I guess you can say. But I would have never picked FR to beat SS 6-0. Congrats to Pete and his team who have all but locked up the top seed for the upcoming playoffs. SS can still make the playoffs but have some work in front of them with 8BC and LPL hot on their tales.

DS vs LPL (AFITC 7PM) - I really don't know what has happened to DS in WPC this season. In GIT and IPA they are getting roughed up, UIC they are holding their own and they are having good seasons in CPA and WSOP. DS has some good shoters in Chuck, Colorado and DJ and they will have to show plus Roy on his game if they want a chance to upset LPL. LPL has been a powerhouse in interleagues now for quite a while and Tino always finds a way to field a solid team. Tonight I see no different with Chex, Sergio and Saf carrying LPL closer to a playoff spot and holding on for a 4-2 win.

November 01, 2010

Week 12

Well with Jason slipping on the predictions he called in a pinch hitter so on very short notice I am going to get Monday's done quickly and have the final 2 matches for first thing tomorrow.

PDZ vs PFN (All My Love 6PM)- PDZ joined WPC half way through the season and has been on the bad end of some lopsided matches but despite their tough start they have a few decent shooters in john_d_singleton and mythicaldragon. PFN on the other hand is a solid team top to bottom and with a win tonight can clinch a playoff birth. We all know Kerry has the big guns but I think she looks to get Cubby and Ian eligible for the playoffs and PFN wins 5-1.

SPS vs 8BC - (Sweet Jane 6:30) -After a decent start to the season SPS has started to fall off the pace and they are waving their playoff hopes goodbye unless they bounce back here. SPS has a few decent shooters in Jason, Rick and Becky but Monte needs to find some help in case they falter. 8BC are looking for some revenge after losing to this same SPS team 4-1 in UIC on Saturday night. A loss by 8BC causes a tie for what can be the final playoff spot. Looking at the stats it seems they don't have a lot of consistency in their players from week to week. SPS in desperation mood squeaks out a 4-2 win.

October 11, 2010

Boring Week Ahead?

So after the drama of week 8 comes the anti climax of week 9

Week 8 saw SPS have a win took off them as Becky had left her tape running all the way thru the 3 hour match vs FR and it didnt get to the Ref in time so FR pick up a 4-2 victory.

A free win for SS against the now departed MIB team and a 4-2 win for PFN against LPL saw the tables shuck up again this week as SPS dropped out of the playoff spots and SS continue there run of form and move 4th.

The basement match saw 8BC pick up a win against another disappointing DS performance 4-2.

This week saw Sean from 8BC boxed for 2 weeks for running his mouth in the WPC shoutbox and has been given the right to appeal but I dont think it will help. The rules on reporting have been in WPC for 3 seasons now and if you run your mouth off because you don't wish to follow rules then more days in the box will apply i would like to say only 2 matches were unreported this week so thank you for that everyone.

I want to welcome Pool Dragonz back to WPC and wish them all the best of luck this season.

The Apps for next season are also up please apply early as we are hoping to increase to 12 teams next season.

The matches:

Monday:

PDZ vs SPS

On paper SPS should win this and although there losing like expected at start of the season they are very close to the likes of FR and PFN in WPC this season. PDZ are very improved and could have had a more difficult match than SPS for there first. I will see who shows for PDZ but this is my shock of the week and PDZ sneak a 3-3 draw

i will write rest tomorrow gl all teams

Week 8 The Big Match!

Welcome to Sports Scene and the Match of the week in LPL vs PFN and this match will be HUGE! A win for PFN and they will put pressure on FR for Thursday vs SPS whereas a win for LPL and PFN could find themselves down to 3rd by the end of the week and have SS and SPS maybe right on there tail.

PFN will need players like the in form Jamie and and Chris to name two. Credit goes to Brock and James also for having stellar seasons so far. LPL have the regular people doing well again but have 3 players boxed for none reports last week in Tino, mvp_adept and apocolypse. LPL will be up against it this week and although Tino will still be able to captain they need to watch for the DQ's. PFN have the edge for me here and will take it 4-2

There are two other matches on monday and with MIB saying they will show I think SS will have a extremely easy day as they look likely to move above SPS in the standings and into that last playoff spot. This is a good recovery by SS and players like John and Tonz are to thank for that. 5-1 to SS

8BC vs DS looks a even more mouth watering prospect its fair to say 8BC have got lucky with teams not showing to there best(PFN) and teams forfeiting the match last week(MIB) which gives them a rather false position above DS but none the less they are there and can DS recover to take a victory in this match? I think so, Chuck and Trey need to step up to the plate though and DS need a performance like they got against SPS. They destroyed SPS that day and this week they will beat 8BC 4-2

SPS vs FR should be a FR win I wont say too much on it as I have said a lot on both teams lately so 5-1 FR

Week 6: Things Are Hotting Up

Welcome to Sports Scene and week 6 of 14 and this week is the last week where you can change leagues for this season! There are 4 teams that have not even lost yet! Freedom who sit top and Poolfiction, Simply Pool Souls and Latino Pool Legends all joint second with the same record of 2-3-0 (W-D-L). SPS are the surprising team in there but they have held there own this season and got a very good 3-3 draw last week with Freedom. Freedom must be the slight favourites to win the regular season as half way approaches but Pool Fiction who have a outstandingly good WPC are right on there heels and that is the match of the week this week. LPL face off against a MIB team who are just 3 points off the playoffs and they have a good solid team base in stevie, steven croz and conor. There are far too many Steven's there for my liking! Dead Strokes who made the playoffs last season need some help this season. Last week they showed with just 2 players and that needs to change because DS are a 4th or 5th place team. I think they are better than MIB and 8BC, which brings me onto 8BC and they got the result of the week last week with a great 3-3 draw vs pfn 2 weeks ago but couldn't repeat it going down 4-2 to LPL.

This week is the first key week. FR play PFN and I think there will be a winner in that match so one 100% record will go. Deadstrokes take on Simply Pool Souls who have a shocking record against Chele's team and Latino Pool Legends play Money in the Bank who are really getting it together. The match of the week however is easy.

Match 3: FR vs PFN
Date: Tue, Sep 21
Time: 7pm
Room: Beetle Spot
Ref: Jason

This has 'classic' written all over it as PFN love breaking 100% records. Kerry and Jamie have 6 players playoff eligible already. With players like Jamie, Brock and Andy all playing well Freedom will have to worry. FR however probably wont be too worried as this is by far and away there best season in WPC ever. They lie unbeaten, only SPS drawing 3-3 last week with them has kept them in touch with the chasing pack. PEtey will call upon Trivis(5-0) and and Ben(4-0) to take the match to PFN. If these two lose then FR are in for a very, very long night. PFN need to have there big guns firing here if they do I think they will just edge it.

Score: 4-2 PFN

Match 1: LPL vs MIB
Date: Mon, Sep 20
Time: 6pm
Room: Under Pressure
Ref: Chele

This is also a very interesting match up. Steve has obviously left LPL, leaving Tino to do what he does best captain. MIB under Stevie mainly have got some serious quality into there squad, Conor and Croz being two of them. If MIB show up like last week then they have a serious chance to end LPL's 100% record. LPL wont lay down though players like Saf, Ant and Cam will all be looking to add to there impressive tally already this season. MIB though for me are due a massive win and i think Ant will lose the decider and MIB take it 4-2

Match 2: DS vs SPS
Date: Mon, Sep 20
Time: 7pm
Room: A Face In The Crowd
Ref: Shelle

Just what has gone on with Dead Strokes this season? They showed with two players last week and lost obviously. They play a rejuvenated SPS team who with Rick, Alix and Kat boast very good records this season. DS cant be bad all season its roughly the same team who got to the playoffs last season, there going to come good one week. The Judge aint played at all this season and that should be addressed sharpish because hes a very good player for 98. If DS can show with 6 I will put my neck on the line and call a shock 3-3 draw, i dont think they have enough from what i have seen this season to beat SPS

Match 4: SS vs 8BC
Date: Wed, Sep 22
Time: 6pm
Room: All Mixed Up
Ref: Chuck

Forget all the unbeaten records and who can go top, who is better this season FR or PFN because this match is a big match up. 8BC vs SS matches have been troublesome in UIC but with Chuck reffing this is going to run fine but be MEGA Tasty. Nigel was once the SS Coordinator move to ICA now to 8BC and some SS players go out of there way to stir up trouble, now me and Nigel don't see eye to eye on many things but that never ever happened in SS when he was in charge of the interleagues. Onto the match and SS who are shockingly bad this season need to win to stay in with a chance of the playoffs. If 8BC can pull out a win then they are right back in the race and would be above SS. I think on what I have seen that 8BC are better than SS this season too. 8BC need Rusty and Sean to stand up and be counted and make sure everyone is eligible and got cam right and set up. Nigel should also play as he is better than most give him credit for. SS need to start playing properly and quick or there billing as pre season favourites looks like a joke. This will be feisty and I hope theres no boxing's or nothing but I think there might be

Score: a big 5-1 to 8BC

gl all this week

Surprise all round and Freedom go from Strength to Strength

Hello all and welcome back for another edition for Sports Scene and we will start off with the team of the season so far, Freedom. Freedom captained by Petey and Eba they are the only team to win all there matches this season. It is a far cry from the other 2 or 3 seasons FR have been in, they have always been the WPC basement boys but that has all changed this season. I got a brief word with Petey today.

Jason: So petey you are usually the basement boys of WPC whats different this season?

Petey: While the core remains the same, our roster has added a few new, great guys from seasons past. Players like Ben and Dan who have been with us for a while now, Jay who fully moved over to FR a number of months back as well as Nish and John now getting in games when they can. Picking up Travis was a biggy for us as he needs no intro. The loss of Jacob and Saf will hurt, especially Jacob who was always super dependable and a great friend. Beyond the players, our attitudes have changed a ton. Last season we just had fun, supporting our MVP in Eba week in and week out, this year we are still having fun, but we're taking it more seriously for sure since we know we have the talent to win it all =)

Jason: You are top of the table and there are still 4 teams yet to face defeat yet, the match of the week is SPS vs FR whats your views on the match tomorrow?

Petey: Well, I'd say a romp but SPS have been strong this season for sure. It'll be pretty good and will more then likely come down to the wire, pretty sure we're away so I wont be able to stop some of your players and their winning streaks the way I want, but I'll have my top guys there with me riding the bench since it seems thats the only way we'll win, but I've got my ways so I'll be testing Monte's captaining skills for sure, but if you want a prediction, our MVP of last season will clinch it =) in 6 =P

Jason thanks petey gl tomorrow and for the season

Petey: Thanks, I wish SPS good luck from Tuesday @ 9pm and after, and I wish you more luck with WPC. PS Chuck, still loving the little button shade-over-effect-thing =)

So that covers FR. Pool Fiction had a night that should have spelled a easy victory over a 8BC team that had been poor this season.... Not last week though as 8BC matched a PFN side and got a valuable draw out of it.

SPS and LPL also drew. SPS keep up there good start to season 7 as do LPL who also are yet to lose this season but have drew 3 matches out of the 4

The shock of the week was predicted by me and it came true as a very strong MIB team thrashed SS 5-1. For SS to run out of players is so shocking its unreal. SS have a massive player base but maybe the in house politics is getting to a SS team i predicted to win it att he beginning of the season.

So match of the week is tomorrow at 7pm and SPS vs FR. This will be a great match as FR are top undefeated and SPS are yet to lose but FR are stronger. Travis and Ben are 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. SPS have Alix, KAt and Rick all at 3-0. IF all the big guns show then SPS have a slight chance but I fully expect FR to come through this in 5 to win 4-2

A very strong MIB play a DS side who might also go into the super 6 of the 3v3 Cam cup but in the regular season they are struggling. Chuck is a good player and James is too but they miss a Ashton type of player. MIB beat SS last week and Stevie will have them on a massive high I fully expect MIB to continue there improvement and beat DS in 6 4-2.

8BC had a great draw against PFN last week and play LPL this week and I think this will be my shock of the week. Tino is now Capt again as Steve did what people thought and left LPL. Tino is a better captain anyway in my view and they still have LAWL there and 8BC will need to bring there strongestest team this week and players like Captain Nooboligy need to really pick it up and in my view this is the shock of the week and 8BC takes it 4-2

PFN vs SS seems a easy one to call but surely SS will show with 6 this week even if they do they are not performing at all and with PFN having the likes of Mina, Jamie and Andy SS wont win they have Jon and thats about it.... Score here 5-1 PFN

GL all this week

September 07, 2010

Better Late Than Never

So with PFN and 8BC drawing 3-3 last night it is the chance of Freedom to move back level with PFN as they take on DS this week. DS have had a indifferent start to WPC whereas FR have flown out of the blocks and will take some stopping tonight. Petey needs Ash, Ben and co to be able to take down a DS side who made the playoffs last season, and if they are to make then this time then Chuck Chele and James need to kick start there seasons. This to me has a FR win all over it as Petey has the better players.

Tomorrow sees MIB take on a SS side who have started poorly. They are on 2 draws and 1 defeat. They will need to win this if they are to stand any chance of keeping pace with the likes of FR and PFN as they have very strong all round teams. SS have pimpism in the top 20 with a record of 2-1 but then need the likes of Jon and Pas to pick up there games because this SS team can do some damage but at this rate it will be a plate appearance and not a world cup appearance that this team will be getting. MIB are trying hard and might just cause the shock of the week here as Stevie is hitting form and they will always show with 6

Score: 4-2 MIB

LPL vs SPS is interesting, SPS have had a good start with 2 wins and 1 draw but LPL are right on there tails with 1 win and 2 draws. Steve has the better players in himself, Ant and Tino. SPS have the harder triers and a few good players in Rick, Alix and Kat. This will be close but i dont see SPS winning. 4-2 LPL

not very long but i have loads of work so my sorries

FR and SPS surprise as SS continue to Falter

Hello and welcome to another edition of WPC Sports Scene. The title says it all as FR and SPS kept pace with PFN early on in the season. SPS took a 5-1 win against 8BC which had some controversy and FR wiped SS out of the water 4-2.

So lets start with Simply Pool Souls win over 8BC. This was a match where Heather who was also reffing and watching tapes at the same time. It all started with a break run by oh.alix, the irony is that should have been her second break run in two matches as she threw a break run away back in week 1. This week though it was different and Alix gave SPS a dream start against Andy(pool_nuts) who was then boxed for a none report.

The first time Trent had been available for a while and he made it 2-0 rather quickly, after almost trying to gift mr old school the victory. Trent almost came through tho but lost it to make it 1-1 and 8BC saw a way back into the game.

Then came the match where all the bs started. SPS called Heather who was reffing and watching tapes too. She was taking time over shots, not only because of the match she was reffing and watching tapes but the whole lining up of shots. Bryan started to complain and Nigel also started to complain, but there is NO rule in WPC that says if your reffing elsewhere you can not play. Kerry from PFN regularly does this and it shouldn't mean that you cant play at all. Heather took the win to make it 2-1 to SPS.

Then the 8BC captain made a mistake and called a player who wasn't able to get Camtasia to work so 8BC forfeited the match and it was 3-1 to SPS who now couldn't lose. Kat picked up the easiest win ever in WPC.

Then 8BC called Noob himself and he was up against Rick who played brilliantly but couldn't convert the 8 and Rusty went through and took the win so 3-2 and 8BC were looking to selvage a draw from this match.

I called myself to play Mikey and this was a great match up which either player could win, at this point there was word that Rusty's tape was not good but it still meant that I had to win to ensure a victory. I did win and Rusty had his tape DQed as he canceled it before it reached the ref so SPS took a big 5-1 win

FR beat SS 4-2 and SS need to kick into gear because with only the top 4 getting into the playoffs this season, a good start is vital and teams like PFN, FR and SPS could steal a march and leave it very tough for the rest to catch them. FR have started the season wonderfully which is a shock because there usually the whipping boys and girls of WPC but this season is different.

Elsewhere FR smashed 6 past 8BC, PFN picked up another win vs MIB but wasn't as easy as the 6-0 in week 1 vs DS they won 5-1 but MIB showed with only 4 players and that will be of concern to WPC and the MIB captain, Rich. Stevie is on the scene for MIB and Steven has moved to MIB and thats a good pick up but didn't help them this week as the Beats of the match reffed it in petey, it was pretty plain sailing.

The other match was LPL beat DS 4-2 in a very close encounter, where not for the first time this season im sure Ant clinched it for Steves LPL side.

So in other things that happened this week, and Nish from FR was boxed for the way he swore and had a go at MIB in there lobby at the expo. WPC admins will NOT tolerate such behaviour and you will be punished instantly. FR had the pick of the EXPO this week and shot from 5th to 2nd in the team standing after a all FR final in which Simple.Deal took the plaudits and defeated Travis in the final. DS had a shocker and the whole field came back to them with the exception of MIB and PFN, there was no representatives in the EXPO for them again this week just gone.

So lets move onto the exciting matches this week and start with the match of the week.

MATCH OF THE WEEK

Pool Fiction vs Latino Pool Legends

Day and Time: Wednesday @ 7pm

Room: Bad Times

Interesting Facts:

LPL beat PFN to win WPC back in Season 2.

PFN are the most successful regular season team in WPC amassing 86 points from 42 matches. LPL are in 6th place with 57 points from 33 matches in WPC.

This match will be a close run thing, PFN have started like a train whereas LPL have started slowly but came good in week two. This will all depend on if Steve can bring his A team. Kerry will ofcourse bring a strong team and players like Brock, Jamie and Chris. LPL need to really kick it up a gear this week however I can not really see LPL being much of competition here. PFN storms to a 5-1 victory here

Match 2

Simply Pool Souls vs Straight Shots

Day and Time: Monday @ 7pm

Room: Sweet Jane

Ref: Chele

Interesting Facts:

SPS have never beaten SS. This is SS's worse WPC start. Usually they win there first match.

So the surprise starters against the team that just aint turned up for two weeks. SS need to get going or they are going to be left behind. SS are struggling even when there best players play. They lost to FR and didnt look that good to be fair. Jon hasn't looked himself and after he had a go at me for making SPS vs MIB the match of the week in week one SPS know that a win here and they will be 9 points clear. Heather took her first win last week and Alix hit a break run. Monte is sparsely playing himself so this might be the match. SS needs to improve as SPS are playing very very well and with SS losing to FR last week they will want revenge but on form I am going with the inform team. SPS beat SS to make there start worse by a score of 4-2

Match 3

Money In The Bank vs Freedom

Day and Time: Tuesday @ 6pm

Room: Back To School

Ref: James

Interesting Facts:

This is by far the best start in WPC for Freedom. MIB only showed with 4 last week and will need to get there with 6

Now this is a interesting match up. When MIB show up they can be amazing, or they can be awful. Last week they was none of them as they only showed with 4 vs PFN, when you are going to show with 4 the PFN team is not the team to do it with. Freedom just keep winning and are going to be a real force to be reckoned with. Travis and simple.deal got to the final of the expo this week and will look to carry over that good form into this match. Could be boring or interesting. If Ben and JAmes show up to this is FR's 5-1

Match 4

Dead Strokes vs 8 Ball Crushers

Day and Time: Wednesday @ 6pm

Room: A Face In The Crowd

Ref: Steven

Interesting Facts:

8BC have had 2 DQs already this season and a 6-0 defeat to FR.
DS are the 9th best team in WPC ever.

8 Ball Crushers have not enjoyed the best of starts, DS has not either. Both have suffered 6-0 defeats and need more confidence. Rusty needs to get the tapes in order and his own camtasia in order. Dead Strokes need to also reproduce there EXPO form if they are to reach the playoffs. Chele has a good side and so does Rusty but 8BC need some big improvements this week. DS should win this and i will say they win big. DS ship this match 5-1.

So theres the prediction and the 3v3 also starts on sunday. This information is on the main page and good luck all this week

August 22, 2010

Week 2 and No Trouble this Week Please

Welcome to Week 2 of WPC and last week was on the whole a very successful week. There was one postponed match, two 6-0 wins and a 3-3 draw so WPC had it all last week.

The match of the week last week was SPS vs MIB, although it wasn't really much of a match of the week as SPS casually brushed MIB aside 6-0. SPS aint used to winning so convincingly. It started with Rick a debutant for SPS defeating KrisBabe. Then I followed up victory in WSOP vs Stevie in WPC to make it 2-0. Then another debutant Alix should have 7balled Dawn but didnt, still go the win though. It was left to WPC specialist Kat to clinch in out vs Bryan. Duro and Matt picked up the other two wins.

Whats this mean for both teams? Well SPS will be buzzing for sure. They have quite a nice early schedule and are missing out on teams like PFN, LPL and SS early on. This could be quite a good season for Monte and Jason.

MIB will need to re-focus, they have a good solid team, stevie and Kris are good accomplished players and Emmit can be a very good shooter. Can Rich bring his best to the table this week? Only time will tell.

The second match was Freedom vs 8 Ball Crusher and this escalated into chaos. James made it 1-0 to FR and then it went 2-0 to FR but the guys tape was not good after the Time Stamp was at the bottom of the screen. At this time the cam settings was not on the Season 7 page yet, but Petey new it was the same rules as back in season 6. But because the tape was DQed they kicked off about it and the match got postponed. There was scrollers in the room too. I think Nigel and 8 Ball Crushers were very sporting and deserve a lot of credit. The match is being replayed on thursday at 5pm i believe.

The third match of the week was Straight Shots vs Latino Pool Lengends in what should have been a close match, and it turned out that way with the honours even at 3-3. It did involve the worse match up in WPC history when Jack played miserably bad but still won. This was a guy who somehow made the All star match in WPC last season.
The first match was a match up none of the admins wanted to see but it was fun to see Jon and Craig go head to head. Obviously Jon won to make it advantage to SS. The ever reliable interleaguer, Jordy stabilized preceding's by defeating Champion to make it 1-1, a typical dominant Jordy. Match 3 saw Cam make it advantage to LPL by beating Pimpism, LPL looked strong and SS a little bit in disarray it needed Pascal to bring SS back into line as he defeated Tino in a very good match. Then the Astonishing choice to call Jack over a few more regular and better players. Jack and Missy played out one if not the worse WPC match which eventually thankfully ended in a Jack win. Ant obviously made it a draw.

The DS vs PFN match was overshadowed by a Tape timeout, which although the DQ stands brings up on a slight tweak to the Cam sending rules being upped to 90 mins to get the tape sent. This is to help members who might not have the fastest internet.

DS lost 6-0 and the DS team will need to bounce back this week.

The EXPO has started off very well. The shock is the 4 time winners SS are languishing back in 4th place. MIB and PFN have not had anyone jump it yet but DS and SPS lead the way. DS are quite a bit in front and own 1,3 and 5 in the individual standings. They missed out on the EXPO win this week just gone though as Benjo from SPS won it. DS_franchise leads the individual championship on 25 points after his week one win and his run in week two. Benjo from SPS lies in second place on 21 points with another DSer James laying in 3rd with Hope on 15 points.

Back to the team points

Every WPC Expo has now been made now so you will find the updating of everything this season far more quickly and effectively.

The Admins voted 5-2 in favour of keeping coaching but this is likely to dissapear next season as WPC falls in line with the rest of the interleagues. That is not a cert yet but its more than likely.

I would like to thank Chuck for having the page updated and its on the www.myleague.com/wpc2 website now also.

Lets get to the weeks action and it starts on tuesday with THREE matches.

--------------MATCH OF THE WEEK--------------

Latino Pool Legends vs Dead Strokes

Tuesday @ 6pm

Room: Under Pressure

Ref: Heather

We start with the match of the week again DS lost 6-0 to PFN last week, whereas LPL came through a very tough match with SS by grabbing a draw. Jordy is Key for LPL this week. They will need to win this if they have any aspirations of reaching the top 4 for the playoffs. This is a big week for DS because they are so much better than a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of PFN. Chele will be going all out to get a result against a team who DS will think are one of the teams that will be there in 4th or 5th spot that DS want. If Chuck and James turns up on form then they could well surprise LPL here.

Score: I think DS WILL surprise here and will 4-2

Match 2

8 Ball Crushers vs Simply Pool Souls

Tuesday @ 6pm

Room: Forward Somersault

Ref: Steven

So 8BC haven't completed a match yet and that first match was moved till Thursday to play FR. SPS came into Season 7 with a BANG. They defeated MIB 6-0 and will fancy there chances against Noob's 8BC who took over from Bryan. 8BC will have to come out of the blocks quick this week because when SPS get a lead they dont usually let it go. Players like Rick, Kat and Heather if she comes on will need to perform at the top of there games. 8BC have talent and are showing this with players like pool nuts and snooker98 they will have a good chance but I think that SPS just have enough here.

Score: A very tight 4-2 win for SPS

Match 3

Pool Fiction vs Money In The Bank

Tuesday @ 7pm

Room: Bad Times

Ref: Petey

So PFN came in late to WPC and smashed 6 out of 6 past DS. They had a Tape DQ but this PFN team must surely be one of the favourites this season. Jamie, Andy and Mina all look good and Kerry must be really happy with what she has available. MIB however will need to step it up big time this week because losing 6-0 to SPS, it doesn't get any harder than this. Stevie and Emmitt need to turn up and really play for the team this week. If they show like they did against BNR in WSOP, then PFN might face a spot of bother. I doubt this will happen though.

Score: 5-1 PFN

Straight Shots vs Freedom

Wednesday @ 6pm

Room: All mixed Up

Ref: Heather

Straight Shots drew with LPL last week 3-3. Freedom had there game abandoned! This season needs to be big for both teams because this will be Freedoms first proper game and with LPl looking strong, drawing with the strong SS team that is still my pick to win the regular title. Petey needs Ben, James and Ash to perform and if they do then SS might have a problem. But if they dont play jack and give the regulars a chance then this will be very close for a Wednesday match. Will be a match report on this one.

Score: 4-2 to SS

Theres the long predictions vgl all at the tables.

Week 1

Welcome to Week one of WPC season 7 and this season is going to be bigger, better and more competitive then ever before. I hope you all read my Pre-Season post. The only team that might not now be in is ICA. If they ain't then on Wednesday DS will play PFN. If that happens then the most successful team in WPC history (probably joint with MP) will be back and in as favourites. PFN will be captained by Kerry and Jamie. There are some great match ups this week however. Lets get into them.

--------MATCH OF THE WEEK--------

Match 1

Simply Pool Souls vs Money In The Bank

Room: Sweet Jane

Day and Time: Monday @ 7pm

Ref: Shelle

Previous Meetings/Confrontations

WSOP: SPS won both the meetings
WPC season 6: SPS 5-1 winners

Emmit did a lot of winding up in WSOP last season

This match is a very interesting match to kick us off in Season 7. SPS have the complete upper hand over MIB in all interleagues. MIB tends to pull off the wins vs the likes on PFN or BNR (BNR last game of WSOP to clinch a playoff spot) but they have not beat SPS ever. Me(jason) has a great record vs MIB. I think MIB have gone with Stevie for captain this season and that would be a wonderful move by rich because he has the skills to try and force a top 4 spot for the playoffs. Emmitt is a average player who can always surprise. The important part of this match will be the first 2 games. If SPS storm into a 2-0 lead then its curtains because they hardly throw away a 2 game lead. MIB have not really picked up any new players in my view. SPS have picked up Noob ology and Rick to name two and the youngster oh.alix who monte the SPS capt is expecting big things from.

Score and Reason:

5-1 SPS they have too much for MIB

Match 2

Straight Shots vs Latino Pool Legends

Room: All Mixed Up

Day and Time: Tuesday @ 7pm

Ref: Sammy (Jason Admin)

Past Meetings/Confrontations:

These two teams met twice in MLP and each had a 4-3 win

This match is a big week one match as LPL former winners and runners up of WPC take on the team that people think should have won the regular title by now. Straight Shots have an array of talent that should dominate inters but really doesnt. They win things like EXPO and BLT in MLP and the UIC Swiss but they dont have proper titles for some time. IPA and the Emerald Division title is about all they have to to show for there team events of the interleagues. However They did win the regular season in MLP a couple of seasons back. LPL are back after a season out because Ant throw out his toys from the pram. These are the only former winners in WPC at the moment and Tino, Steve and company will be looking for a early quick start here but I doubt it.

Score and Reason:

3-3 I see this being a shut out both teams SHOULD be strong this season.

Match 3

8 Ball Crushers vs Freedom

Day and Time: Tuesday @ 5pm

Room: Forward Somersault

Past Meetings and confrontations:

None

So Freedom yet again are in this season, with Ash planning on playing and petey being confident 8BC must watch out this week as FR are very quick starters. 8BC are back after about a 3 season break but are bigger, better and different this season. Bryan is the new captain and Nigel and Bev have moved over to 8BC from ICA who are prolly out of this season too. If 8BC are gonna win they need to match there strongest players up with the likes of Corey, Ash and Petey. If they can win 2 out of 3 from those players then they have a shot. Eba and Hope have both improved a lot tho and these are big threats for FR this season.

Score and reason:

4-2 FR because they have the better players

Match 4

Deadstrokes vs Pool Fiction

Day and Time: Wednesday @ 7pm

Room: A Face In The Crowd

This match is more than likely going to be against Pool Fiction. DS are really strong in WPC and got to the playoffs last season and look like they face a uphill struggle but PFN will be stronger and welcome back :)

Score:

4-2 PFN

GL all and have fun

WPC SEASON 7: Let the Countdown Begin

WPC Season 7 is now just 6 days from Kickoff with the EXPO being the traditional opener for the season. Last season was mostly successful there was a few things that happened in some people got done for cheating, the playoffs were very, very close. Pool Fiction bought the curtain down on a glorious WPC career by playing another retiring team MP in the Grand Finals. MP had a great playoff run, defeating SPS and X8B 4-0. Pool Fiction had a bit tougher in the conference finals beat a SS team who were inspired 4-3. PFN beat MP over the best of 3 match 2-0 on matches, 4-2 and 4-3 respectively to make MP the most successful team in WPC with PFN very close behind.

This season however is a hanging of the guard as we welcome some new teams and a former WPC champ team in LPL back. In 6 season's PFN got to every World Cup finals except one, but LPL were a team who beat them back in season 2. They are captained by Steve with Missy his Co Capt and this team has all the regulars of LPL still in. Tino, Chex, Duro and Uriel to name four. Add Steve, Missy and Cam into the equation and this LPL team has a great chance of reaching the top 4 for the playoffs. If Steve can carry through being Captain for the whole season and show with 6 each week then they have a mega chance at the title and the World Cup Trophy.

8 Ball Crushers are back and Bryan is the Captain, Nigel is the IL Co ordinator for them and these could potentially be a very dangerous team. I don't know who they have but I knwo Bryan is a very good player, Sean can be good on his day and who knows if Nigel plays or even we might see bev. I cant say much more on these as I don't knwo that much so more will become clear when I see them in week one.

Freedom, under Petey are getting better and better. He has some very able players in Corey, Himself and Ash if he plays. Freedom used to be the whipping boys of WPC because they performed well in weekend IL's but not anywhere else. Thsi will change this season I beleive and I think they might challenge for the 4th and final playoff spot but then again if they get off to a rocket start they might be up there challenging the big boys for number one only time will tell. Petey needs his A team most weeks and needs to be able to turn up with 6 every week.

Dead Strokes performed brilliantly last season to take a playoff spot and finish in the top 5! Chele can make playoffs again this season but players like Ashton if he can play, James, Roy and Chunk need to really step up to the plate because there is no easy game in WPC this season its so tight. If DS can have a good season start then they will beleive and the results will get so much stronger. Roy is Australian he doesnt like to lose so this will be a big defining season for the guys and gals from DS

ICA are a interesting one, theres a few problems going on at the moment I beleive but they still can put runs together in interlegaues. Take WSOP for example they went 10-2 this season and should win it if they play to there potential. They have a chance to really dominate WPC this season but in WPC anything happens. Trey and Nish are running the show for ICA in WPC this season so this will be a good indication to see who plays for them this season but i expect a playoff spot for ICA they have quality of Nish, Shan, Trey and Nick.

MIB are facing a big struggle this season but they have the ability to beat the big teams and if my mate stevie is gonna captain them then they have got every chance this season. MIB will either show up and dominate, show up and be crap or not show with the right amount of players and lose matches they think they should have won. When on form they can beat anyone. They beat BNR in WSOP to clinch a unlikely playoff spot. Watch out for Kris, Rich and Emmitt to have good solid seasons.

Now for the team they narrowly knocked out of the WSOP and my team SPS. SPS are a interesting team because they are improving dramatically but this group of team should just keep them out of a playoff place. I would put them on par with Freedom at the moment and players like Heather, Kat, Monte along with a few newbies, like nooboligy and im.alix are the upcoming players to watch for this season. If Monte picks his teams right and plays the right players they will have a great season.

SS are my favourites they have loads of top quality players, liek tonz, pas and pita to name three. Jon is also a great player. If Shelle can get enough eligable this season they will finish top i have no doubt about it. It will be disastrous if SS are not in the playoffs come the end of 14 weeks. But shelle you need to get your players playoff eligable.

My table

1 SS
2 ICA
3 FR
4 LPL
5 DS
6 SPS
7 8BC
8 MIB

Gearing Up For Season 7!

Welcome to Sports Scene and I am blogging again his season after taking a season out. Mr Know It All was brilliant last season but I am afraid it will be this and audios from me this season. Season 7 is not that far away and some admins have left and new ones have come in. I want to thank the likes of Tonz, Chris from SS, Ben and James for allt he work that was put in last season. This season has 8 admins. Me, Heather, Steven, Shelle are the ones to stay around. We will be joined by Trey from ICA who has had several admin jobs in the past and has good experience to help this WPC season be the best ever. Shan will be our Page updater and is also the guy who designed the new page. Steven will ofcourse be in charge of the EXPO and chris from SS is going to keep on as the Cup admin only. The last two admins are Chele and Chuck from DS and these are level headed people who will tell me when i am doing something wrong.

EXPO will be 18 weeks this season as will the regular season, based on 1 league of ten teams, with top 6 going through to the playoffs. the remaining 4 will battle it out for the WPC plate which is making a return for season 7. You will need to have took part in or got credits for 5 matches to be eligible for either playoffs.

The teams that are taking part at the moment (waiting for 1 confirmation) are Freedom, Simply Pool Souls, Money In The Bank, Straight Shots, Dead Strokes, 8 Ball Crushers, True Champs(im waiting for a yes or no), Latino Pool Legends, Extreme Cues and International Cue Association.

This is a pretty strong line up and the race for Number 1 will be difficult.

That is your pre look at the pre season I will post later on about start date ect and when I will do the preds, if you wanna help then message me. I dont know if WPC freak will be doing anything you never know with the freak

Finale

Here we are, finally at the end of the WPC rope. First off, I want to thank you all for reading my predictions each week. Sadly I am stepping down after this post. I will no longer be a WPC predictor.

PFN were the first league to make it into the finale, they handed SS a 4-3 loss. They have stars like Andy, Ogges, Kerry, and Jeremy. Look to see these four become key factors in deciding who ends up Champion. I think this match will be close but something tells me MP will consed game 1 to PFN 4-2.

MP on the other hand have stars like MVP Nish, Trey, Shan, Nick, Jordy, and Croz. Chris shouldn't have a problem bringing a team and with home-field on match 2 I see them taking win on a nail-biter 4-3.

That leaves a HEATED match 3. With the return of home-field Cubby will use his vast knowledge to match-up with whoever MP brings to the table. This match will run close but you wont see game 7. PFN will win the 2rd match 4-2, I just don't think MP has it in them... I wish both teams the best of luck on their matches this week, may the yahoo glitches be in your favor!

What, no draws? Who will pull it off?

X8B #2 (6-2-1) vs MP #3 (6-2-2)
Thursday@7pm
Where: Alive
----------------------

The headline says it all, this match is going to be a thriller. During the regular season X8B matched up against MP in a heated set. When the cloud dissipated the match was still a no-decision. Luckily for MP and X8B in the playoffs there are no draws. This match is sure to please and both teams are stacked with players that can finish out a 3-3 match. MP has Jordy, Shan, Nish, Trey and Croz all of which have the shot at winning a match. I posted last week that they shouldn't have any problems with SPS and I was correct! With that heavy force behind them it is conceivable to say that MP has the potential to win back-to-back WPC Championships.

MP will have to be careful though X8B did squeak by with the season runner-up over them after they experienced a whicked defeat at the hands of SS. I warn you MP, don't expect X8B to lay down and die like SPS because if you do, you're going to be sadly mistaken. With the likes of; Steve, Conor, Randy, Robby, and Adam you cant under-estimate this squad. They aren't as well rounded in the snooking department but any of them can run out a table. Look to see this match finish in a 4-3 outcome. If we are lucky, both captains will bring full teams and play out each game like it was their last!
Outcome: 4-3 MP with a stunning Run Break by Jordy in game 7.

Win Or Go Home....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, I would like to thank all the leagues that participated in this WPC season. Through all the ups and downs you all have stuck around and kept this inter league great the competition was strong the whole season. It's TIME, the long awaited playoffs have arrived ladies and gentlemen. PFN and X8B got the first round bye in case you have been living under a rock and weren't aware. SS vs DS and MP vs SPS are the match-ups this week. Of the 2 match-ups my attention and interest is focused on the SS vs DS match but both should be full of tough challengers and lots of excitement. I wish you all the best of luck, it's time to win or go home. May the yahoo glitches be in your favor WPC.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SS(5-2-2) vs DS(5-0-4)
Tuesday@5pm
Room:All Mixed Up

------------------------------
SS has played hard this whole season, and I don't see it stopping now. They have fought through many trials and yet, managed to come out with home-field at the end of the season. Losing some key players like Nish, Shan, Nigel, Nick, and Trey had me worried, and nearly scratched them out of the playoffs. However, Shelle did a great job bringing in a crew that supported this SS team in their times of need. Jon, Pascal, and Tonz all have done very well; they will be the key players here for SS. If SS wants to win this match, Shelle will need to call them at the right time. Based on their regular season match-up in week 5, it would appear DS have the upper hand.

DS have exceeded most peoples expectations this season. Preseason I had them finishing outside of the playoffs but look at how well Chele has been captaining her squad. Roy deserves props as well for the free-reign he Provided Chele. DS won 4-2 earlier this season against SS and will hope to repeat the outcome, but, does she have the stars needed to contend with SS? DS do have strong players; Roy, you_might_lose, and xXxGxOxDxXx but is that enough? Roy has the most experience and will be a key player but not getting Ashton eligible is going hurt Chele badly. The pressure will be on DS and the match will come down to how well they can keep their nerve.

Shelle is going to make sure she doesn't repeat what happened in the regular season. Jon, Tonz, Pascal, and Jamie will be a HUGE challenge for DS. Chele will need more than skill to win this match-up. On paper SS are just too strong for DS. I predict that SS will take this match 4-2 and will be seeing PFN in the 2nd round.

MP(5-2-2) vs SPS(3-1-5)
Tuesday@7pm
Room:Wombat Wagon
---------------------------
MP have done well in WPC. They were last seasons champs and almost walked into the playoffs with a first round bye. Chris has brought a very formidable crew to the table. It's not surprising MP have shut people out this season. Chris brings MVP Nish, Shan, Nick, Jordy, Croz, and Trey to the table. They might not have all finished with great records but no one wants to match-up with any of those heavy hitters. Chris, you should have been the allstar captain, you have put together an outstanding team.

Monte from SPS has done just enough to make the playoffs this season. I never thought in my wildest dreams SPS would be sitting here matched up against MP but here we are. This match-up is going to be like night and day. SPS are known for fast paced games that don't usually have excessive snooking and they will need to change up their strategy if they want a shot at beating MP. MP will force SPS to make the first move and I am sure Jason, Heather, and Kat are going to be aware of this. Those 3 need to slow their games up and play cautiously to give SPS a chance at advancing to round 2.

In the end the slow playing snoozefest of Shan, Nish, and Trey will prevail over a predominantly bang running squad from SPS. I would love to see the underdog win here but the simple facts are, they will not. MP wins 5-1 and advances to Round 2 against X8B.

April 18, 2010

WRAPPING-UP REGULAR SEASON

Well let's start with the MVP hunt, this season is short so it makes it a bit more challenging to make it into the elite group. Going into the last game of the season the MVP race is looking like this:

MP_ll_pro.nub_ll, 7-0
PFN_HawkeyeStriker, 6-0
SS_crazy_cananuck, 6-0
EPC_dx.fanatic, 6-0
MP_aaaaaaaaanil, 6-1

That's the breakdown, no one with more than one loss made the list because mathematically they can not catch Nish, in theory if Nish sits this last week he will take the title (or share it depending on game outcomes). I don't see him sitting though vs a strong SS team, MP will need Nish to have a shot at a victory. This last week was BIG, 5 teams have locked up a post-season birth. SPS is the only team that could potentially be eliminated from the playoffs, they need to win or tie their match vs FR to insure a playoff spot. When I sit and reflect on last week many things interested me... The most hyped match this season was a dreadful flop, DS pushed TC to the brink of elimination, and SPS pulled off a timely win vs a slumping EPC team. There are a couple interesting matches this week but with all but one spot locked up, there isn't much riding on this last week.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SPS(#6) vs FR(#10)

Monday@7pm
----------------------------
SPS holds their destiny in hand. Monte needs to bring his big boys, don't dare take this match lightly or you will have to hope X8B handles TC Tuesday. I wouldn't put my faith in a team that just got 6-0'ed. SPS has a fairly strong lineup; Jason can perform once in awhile, Desbara has performed above expectations and last week would have appeared on the above MVP race. Sadly Monte, 2 players can not carry a team to victory you need to hope for at least one more key win. Petey loves to end peoples playoff chances, he will relish this weeks opportunity. I hope he can bring his big boys to get SPS sweating, competition brings the best out in people.
Outcome: 3-3 DRAW

X8B(#3) vs TC(#7)
Tuesday@6pm
------------------------
X8B is coming off a devastating loss to PFN 6-0, James needs to turn this around. What a time for X8B to start failing, when they need to turn it up they decide to not even show. I think James' world is upside-down after that match but it will be corrected this week. TC needs to win this match or they are statistically out of the playoffs. I say Sean shows with 6 because this is a very important game but if his team isn't playing their best this season is over for TC.
Outcome:4-2 X8B

DS(#5) vs EPC(#8)
Tuesday@7pm
------------------
This is pretty much a meaningless match for Jack, he clearly has given up on this season and might just be done captaining EPC again. DS wants to win this match to put pressure on SS, if DS wins this match SS needs to tie or they are in danger of losing #4 seed and a key home field advantage in round 1 of the playoffs. Chele knows this and she is going to keep the heat on SS, I have money on the fact that her team comes out guns blazing, look to see DS take this with ease.
Outcome:4-2 DS

PFN(#1) vs MIB(#9)
Wednesday@5pm
----------------------
PFN has home field this match and they have pretty much clinched first seed. The only thing that would prevent PFN from taking first seed is if MP wins 4-2 and PFN losses vs MIB. Will Cubby/Kerry allow that to happen? The magic 8 ball says highly unlikely. Rich hasn't brought in a strong group for awhile now and with them out of playoff contention expect a similar trend. PFN wants this match going into the final week no one has presented a challenge to them besides MP and if both those teams get #1 and #2 they wont have to play in tell the finale.
Outcome:5-1 PFN

MP(#2) vs SS(#4)
Wednesday@6pm
---------------------
What a finale to the regular season, this match has a lot on the line. MP has a mvp in Nish who wants to show he is deserving of the title and SS has Jonathan who is breathing down Nish's neck. What a matchup, seeding will be determined by the outcome of this match. If MP beats SS they wrap-up season 6 with a first round bye. If SS wins or ties they stay in their token 4th spot and will enjoy a home field advantage first round while taking MP out of 2nd seed. This match will come down to game 6. Shelle, bring your "A" team because lord knows, MP will. Expect a lead change or 2 before this match is over.
Outcome:3-3 DRAW

Good luck all in your games this week, thanks for reading my predictions and I hope you continue reading when the playoffs start. May the yahoo glitches be in your favor WPC...

April 11, 2010

MATCH OF THE SEASON!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well 2 weeks left and we have pretty much everything ironed out in the top 4 spots. DS surprised me with another win vs last place FR, they are right in the position they need to be in. Chele controls her own playoff destiny with winnable matches left in TC this week and EPC next. The last 2 spots are still easily up for grabs though, there is only a 2 point margin between 5th and 8th, what a interesting last 2 weeks we have ahead of us. The biggest match this season comes this week, 1st place PFN is playing X8B in alive on Tuesday. EVERYTHING is on the line, both teams are sitting on the standings without a loss, could that change this week? A review of last week will show just what I had predicted, a very one sided week that didn't have the marquee match-ups seen in previous weeks. Luckily, this week we have a lot of key matches with playoff implications on the line.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SS(#4) vs FR(#10)
Monday@6pm
-------------------------
FR continued an abysmal season with yet another loss last week at the hands of DS. I think Petey has long since given up on this season. SS on the other hand turned their ship around handing TC a clutch loss, keeping them firmly in 4th. SS will still be in 4th when this week ends, this match isn't quite as intriguing as the rest of the matches happening this week but don't expect Petey to just run off with his tail between his legs. FR still has a strong supporting cast that just hasn't put it together this season. SS has continued to get it done when they really need to.
Outcome:4-2 SS

DS(#5) vs TC(#6)
Tuesday@6pm
-----------------
This is the first of 3 great match-ups this week. DS has been doing great thus far and like I have stated up at the top, are controlling their own fate. DS needs at least a tie in this match to almost insure a playoff birth. TC on the other hand will need more than a tie here because they have they have to finish the season against X8B. Sean needs to bring his "A" team because this is a critical match. This game is going to separate the big boy from the chump. Who wants this match more? who is going to bring the guns at the right time? Pommy needs to show for TC amongst others to have a fighting chance. DS needs the likes of Ashton and Drew as well.
Outcome: 3-3 DRAW

X8B(#2) vs PFN(#1)
Tuesday@7pm
------------------------
WOW, what a match-up. I wonder how this is going to play out ladies and gents. PFN got hammered recently by X8B in MLP 6-1. The shellacking left PFN in a tough spot going into the 2nd half of that IL. BUT, this is WPC and it's a whole different ball game people. X8B needs this match to have a shot at locking up a first round bye and PFN wants this match to somehow right what went wrong in MLP. I am wondering one thing Kerry, is Miz showing up this week? I already know Andy cant make the show, that makes it very interesting... Sid, Brent, and Brian all can run tables for PFN but will luck fail them? James has the likes of Steve and Conor who handled PFN quite nicely last week and don't forget Ben, he broke Miz into pieces. The hype surrounding this match is high and I am positive that it is justified. Two undefeated heavy-weights step into the ring Tuesday and the scorecard is going to be close, so close it might even be a no-decision?
Outcome:3-3 DRAW

MIB(#9) vs MP(#3)
Wednesday@5pm
----------------------
This is one of the rare dull match-ups this week and easily over-shadowed by the previous game. Rich has pretty much given up on this season, it showed with only bringing 3 vs X8B when they really needed at least a tie to give them a outside shot at making the playoffs. Now that they are sitting in 9th 2 points out of 6th place they theoretically have a chance, but MP has too much depth. Shan, Chris, Jordy, Nish, Trey, etc. I don't know any sane man that wants to step up against those guys. They wont run you (besides Jordy) but they will use their careful playing-style to out-wit you into a loss. MIB good luck this week, MP you are itching to get your 2nd place back and you just might do it this week.
Outcome:6-0 MP

EPC(#8) vs SPS(#7)
Thursday@7pm
----------------------
This is the last match this week and it is also the last great match-up. Don't get me wrong, neither of these teams are great. Sure both of these teams have a decent shot at making the playoffs but can they go past round 1? no freaking way! Jack had me going mid-season but a recent string of disappointments have had me jump ship. If EPC could show with their big names every week they would actually be considered a playoff team, I don't know if Jack is just a bad captain or if his players just cant take EPC seriously but one thing is for sure, Jack is good at failing. I really think if Monte remembers he has a match-up this week he just might win. Jason and Heather want playoffs more than Jack appears to want it, I am sure this match will end up like I have predicted the other great match-ups this week. Jack, if you win this match you can put yourself back in a playoff spot, step up young man.
Outcome:3-3 DRAW

Keep it real WPC, playoffs and allstars are right around the corner, I will have MVP race up next week. As usual, may the yahoo glitches be in your favor WPC.

Dull Week around WPC

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I have been on a string of interesting calls as-of-late. TC thumped MP in an amazing turn of events. MP just didn't want the match as bad this week. They hand the match to TC by calling their last player, and knowing he wasn't eligible to play. MP didn't just hand TC the match last week, they handed X8B 2nd place as well. Good Luck getting 2nd back now MP, you have to win these matches if you want to make it to the WPC championship. There were a few other intersting matches this week. SPS keeps themselves in a good position to make the playoffs with a tie against 4th place SS. Jack has done a pretty good job this season tell last weeks X8B match, sure X8B took the 6-0 no show but wouldn't you in that situation? I talked with James recently and I asked him about it, he said that if Jack cant read the rules why should X8B have to suffer. Just so you know people, call your player within the first 7 minutes of the match or its a 6-0 win. All that aside, there are 2 interesting matches this week, MP vs EPC and SS vs TC. I am sure your at the edge of your seat waiting to hear what I have to say about these so let the predicting begin....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PFN (#1) vs SPS (#6)
Tuesday@7pm
------------------------
This should be one of the matches that will leave you breathless this week. HA, yea SPS has done miles above my earlier season predictions but do they have a shot against a powerful, if not THEE most powerful team in WPC? No shot in hell if you ask me :). PFN has been solid all season winning every match but one while SPS has been hit and miss. SPS has been mediocre thus far, beating two teams that are not considered playoff contenders and tying SS who haven't been doing quite so well recently. Look to see this match end very early...
Outcome:5-1 PFN

FR(#10) vs DS(#8)
Wednesday@6pm
-----------------------
This is another one of those very exciting matches, FR has under-performed this season. Petey has had plenty of opportunities but things just haven't come together for him. It isn't just one person for Petey its all of them - Corey who came to FR a quarter of the way through the season. On paper Petey should be holding, at the very least, 6th seed and should have been able to ride into the sunset guns blazing. That wont happen this season in WPC, look for Ash, Petey, and Corey to get at least 1 more win before the end of this season. DS is doing fairly decent. I predicted them about where they are at. If Chele can get Ashton and their other big dogs to show they have the potential to win this match. DS, if you can scrape this out you have a sexy shot at making the playoffs SPS lost this week and Jack is coming off a 6-0 DQ. Catch some fire in this match and you will be right where FR should be.
Outcome:3-3 DRAW

SS(#4) vs TC(#5)
Wednesday@6pm
-------------------
This is the hottest match this week, TC with Pommy's help has caught just enough air to glide into the playoffs. I wrote TC out last week vs MP, with the team MP has put together, they were just deeper but look at the outcome? Sean is doing well managing this team. SS needs to step up or they will finally lose the spot they have been coveting for most of the season. SS was doing quite well for awhile but it seems like the last 2 weeks they lost the desire. I have a feeling SS puts a stop to the skid here, they want home field and it will show this week. Pommy wins but he wont have the clinch.
Outcome:4-2 SS

X8B(#2) vs MIB(#9)
Thursday@6pm
---------------------
James and Ben are sailing smoothly here in WPC. The only match that looks to be close in the last stretch is PFN next week. I don't think James is too worried about this match, he has a strong team that can easily handle a Pommy'less MIB team. MIB needs this win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Will a win happen for MIB? Sure there is a glimmer of hope, MIB has put together some decent games this season but they will not be able to matchup vs a VERY strong X8B team. X8B will cruise control this match and setup a first place opportunity next week and will in turn create the match of the season for you WPC aficionados.
Outcome:5-1X8B

MP(#3) vs EPC(#7)
Thursday@6pm
--------------------
This should be a brightspot this week around WPC. Jack is coming off a dreadful captain-showing last week as noted a few times this week while MP is coming off a shocking defeat at the hands of TC. Jack will not repeat last weeks mistakes, he will show with a team that can compete. MP will get back on track this week though, Chris might be closing up the MP shop but he wants to finish it off with a BANG. Shan, Nish, and Trey all worked marvels this week vs LPL in MLP. They are coming off a unbelievable win in EC and it should carryover tonight. Look to see MP thump Jack on top of his noggin tonight.
Outcome:4-2MP

GOOD LUCK WPC in the rest of your matches this week, may the glitches be in your favor WPC.

The Last Three Spots

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you were wondering about prediction scoring, I have put it off tell I have someone to challenge. Heather has had a rough time, our prayers go out to her and Jason, so with only me doing predictions at the moment it seems pointless to keep track of just my own predictions. On to the recap for this last week, I was talking about how SS had playoffs clinched up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, no way with the players they bring to the table could they be pushed around by a bottom 5 team (let alone THEE last place team). I guess I don't know it all :-)), who would have predicted SS to fail? that keeps the hunt close for EPC, SPS, and MIB. Any of those teams can take up the flame and get rewarded with a home field 1st round, if SS thinks they can sail through with mostly subs like they used vs DS it will cost them down the road.

One other team surprised me last week and that was MIB. I cant believe how well they did vs TC, there were some question marks after that match but the final score pushes MIB into a 5-way hunt for the playoffs with just 4 games to go. It is hard to believe we are on the last leg, it is very exciting to think that teams like EPC, SPS, TC, and MIB might make the playoffs. These teams haven't consistently seen a post-season in long stretches (I don't count IPA or GIT and if you want to know my reasoning behind that look at Cubby's guest spot on the IPA blog, he nailed it on the head) so look for at least 2 feel-good stories when the post season officially kicks off 6 weeks from now. These will be some grueling times for MIB and especially EPC, Jack will surely slump over the next 2 weeks but look for him to rebound just in time to make the playoffs. On to the predicting...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TC(#8) vs MP (#2)
Monday@6pm
-------------------
TC is coming of a surprised thumping by MIB, I honesty was surprised, I had faith in Pommy even though he has consistently disappointed this season in WPC. I think he pulls out a win this week but it wont be a team win... MP is coming in with a full roster, Chris has done a great job bringing in Jordy, Shan, Trey, and Nick. They seem to just keep getting the job done. These guys will not blow you away but consistency is key. I will take MP in this, Pommy and one other pulls a win out of the hat but they fall short of the team win they disparately need.
Outcome:4-2MP

FR(#10) vs PFN(#1)
Monday@7pm
---------------------
FR just cant seem to win this season, they did just enough to make PRO playoffs, are looking to be in UIC dd, and are having continued success in IPA. Unfortunately Petey just has had tough breaks here in WPC. Last week was a bust, and will this week continue were last week left off? PFN has been holding onto first all this season, they just seem to have WPC's number. PFN has a slim lead on MP and X8B, meaning Cubby/Kerry wont take this match lightly. Cubby will show with his best, Cubby/Kerry both know how dangerous a full FR team can be. Hopefully for Petey; Ash is out of the box, Hope plays solid, and Corey plays as well as he is in MLP. Watch out PFN you could end this with a tie.
Outcome:4-2PFN

MIB(#7) vs DS(#8)
Tuesday@7pm
-------------------
DS are coming of their first win in WPC. Congratulations, we can breakout the confetti and ticker-tape parade. Ok lets get serious, with only 4 games to go DS needs to go on a HUGE winning streak and that just isn't realistic. Chele is a competitor though, she will show with a team and leave it all on the table. MIB is also ecstatic, they got right back in the playoff picture. MIB will win this, they wont need a double dq to insure a victory in this match. IF, they can pull this off look to see MIB catch the playoff spot temporarily for this week.
Outcome:4-2MIB

X8B(#3) vs EPC(#5)
Tuesday@7pm
-----------------
This is the match of the week, X8B is holding on strong vs every team they have matched up with thus far. Will they continue vs EPC? Jack has to bring Stephen, Daru, and more to even contemplate a tie. EPC wasn't able to show with their strongest at the most crucial time last week and like I said, if that continues you can see the outcome being no different vs X8B who have the best record in MLP and are sitting directly behind MP for 2nd in WPC. Jack, I don't think you have what it takes to beat X8B but I do think you can do enough to take the last seed in playoffs. Look to see this match being repeated in the post-season.
Outcome:4-2X8B

SPS(#6) vs SS(#4)
Wednesday@7pm
--------------------
This match should be interesting, SPS will attempt to run it out and the odds are they fail. SS do what they do best, snook-out a game to insure victory. SS's tactic will be even more emphasized this week reeling from a viscous loss to once last place DS. SS refuses to take another beating, this match is key for them, they still have MP to finish the season so they need to distance themselves from EPC and SPS. What a time to do that this week, keeping the wolves at bay will almost insure home field week 1 of playoffs. SPS surprises SS with a close match...
Outcome:4-2SS

Well, may the yahoo glitches be in your favor WPC. Good luck this week.

Week 5, Close heat

If you were looking for the predictor scores this week, I will have them up soon, I have been pretty busy as-of-late (or lazy depending on how you see it) so you will have to wait for a future update. WOW what a week, I was off by a mile on some of my preds I guess we all have a off week once in awhile :). The separation between #1 and #5 is just a mere win/loss. MP played beyond my expectations this week tying their match, Cubby and Nish played dreadful but some how some way Nish pulled it out for MP. With MP tying PFN, X8B and MP stay in striking distance of taking first. PFN still holds their destiny in hand, they are left with only 2 top 5 teams to play before the end of the regular season. It is highly likely to see PFN, MP, and X8B finish the 2nd half of the season in the exact same spot they sit in now. The only difference is the gap between the big 3 vs the rest will lengthen in the stretch run. There are still questions left for EPC and SPS. EPC answered some questions about what they can do with a win vs FR but can they hold up, there are still 6 games left Jack and 2 of those are vs PFN (this week) and X8B (next week). If you can pull a tie between either of these teams (most likely X8B), then you will easily make playoffs without a doubt. SPS needs to get their dodo together because that loss vs TC is unacceptable. Yes, I haven't said a thing about SS but we all know they will make playoffs without a problem I just don't see them finishing beyond rd2 with the heavy hitters they are doomed to run into (look for PFN to take them in the 2nd rd).
Quote of the week:

"Jack has a solid team, one that can contend closely with any of the bottom 5."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TC vs MIB

Monday@6pm
----------------
This should be a very interesting match vs 2 bottom 5 teams. TC was welcomed in last week with a big win vs SPS leaving SPS looking in their side mirrors hoping TC don't blow on by. I think this week, just that will happen. TC are playing a recently under-performing MIB team that hasn't won a match since week one (coincidentally the same time Pommy ran away with his tail between his legs or maybe it was a issue of pride who knows, hehe). OH, did I forget to mention Pommy is playing for TC now? with that being said, how could you not pick them?
Outcome:4-2 TC

FR vs X8B

Monday@7pm
-----------------
This could be considered the match of the week, at least to X8B. They are coming of a season ending loss in PRO last thursday and I cant see them allowing 2nd to last place FR a chance to scrounge back into the hunt. Their mouths must be salivating at a chance to dismantle a team that already looks to be in ruins. This isn't carry and with players who show on a regular basis in Conor, Ben, James, and Steve (who besides the dq in PRO has played on form). I can not see Petey getting anything but a tie and that will only happen if Hope, Corey, and Ash can pull off wins vs those who have already been stated in X8B. Yes, FR has homefield but this is going to mean a lot for both sides. There are some murky feelings between these teams over recent weeks can FR keep it cool like last week? I assume so but it still wont be enough.
Outcome:4-2 X8B

EPC vs PFN

Tuesday@7pm
---------------
Clearly, this is the match of the week. PFN only has 1 more challenging match to finish off the season (X8B) and this will keep them in first with a victory. PFN wont allow anyone else to hold first this season. That being said, EPC has come off a tough win vs FR and after a rocky start Jack pulled it together with some risque coaching by Daru. WPC is one of those rare inter leagues that allow it, that makes it very frustrating for teams that don't take advantage of the help. Unfortunately for Jack, coaching wont be enough help... IF Stephen can keep the rust off he could possibly pickup a win (I can see Sid losing to Stephen on a early run attempt). Daru is good for a win unless he is matched up with Miz who has the potential to beat ANYONE. I also hope to see Cubby step up this week, if he plays like the previous week who knows how this turns out. Cubby and Kerry are the X-factors. PFN is still just too much for EPC, Jack falls just short. Jack, mad props for putting together a team that can handle its own in a big boy inter league and will Jack make all-stars people? What an interesting thought.
Outcome:4-2PFN

DS vs SS
Tuesday@7pm
---------------
SS is a solid team, I was wrong to count them out early this season. They do what needs to get done to finish the teams they challenge. With a tie vs X8B and a close loss vs PFN while clearly handling the lower teams they have plugged along doing just what needs to get done to make the playoffs. That will continue again this week vs the only 0-4 team in WPC6. This match finishes in a state of dullness.
Outcome:5-1SS

MP vs SPS
Wednesday@7pm
------------------
This should be a solid match, SPS has done fairly well this season against the bottom 5 (wins vs DS and MIB) but look at the grueling schedule ahead, this being one of them. SPS, you cant show with less than 6 at all this season and expect to win a match you just don't have the depth to do so. I really hope you show with a full team this week, you will NEED to. MP is on fire, picking up a solid tie vs the best team in WPC6 thus far and tying X8B earlier in the season. MP, you guys just need to continue winning vs the average teams and you will stay in 2nd. The only snag is the match up vs SS at the end of the season. MP will easily use their snooking skills to dismantle a run 1st snook 2nd SPS team.
Outcome:5-1MP

I hope you enjoyed the predictions this week, and as always, may the yahoo glitches be in your favor WPC.
