So with me being away and dealing with stuff WPC had sort of stagnated and I would like to thank the people who kept it running for me right now, they are ofcourse my admins. With the teams for season 5 and will be released soon. There are a few teams in the playoffs who wont rejoin next season and one of these teams I hold close to my heart as I have captained them to a WPC runners up spot, and that is Pool Fiction. Now I have no idea how or why Kev got the league and why Roger left but PFN for years have been a dominant force in MLP, PRO, UIC, PLC and the last 3 seasons of WPC. There captains Ogges, Kev, Simon I think did it at some point and myself I think would like to say its been a honour having PFN in WPC for so long and credit goes to there main guns of Jamie, Cubby(as much as it pains me to say it, only pommy is worse than having to pay compliment to Sean), Andy, Ogges, Stu and most of all Kerry. You guys and Gals have been the force that has been PFN and dominant for the last god knows how long. The other team is the other former Champions Latino Pool Legends. Tino has kept this team going through thick and thin, but you know when you look at them this season I think its the best team Tino has ever had and I think WPC will miss the LPL - PFN rivalry in which Cubby created himself and it just escalated. Then I look at Ant who has been LPL's driving force and if they are gonna sign out of WPC with a WPC World Cup then he will have to be on form.
These two are joined by last season's shock runners up in Lucky Shots who are again a league that might not be on the starting line next season but we will see about that one. Lucky Shots need luck to get to there second consectetive WPC World Cup but they could do it with there stand out players in Fabien, Chris(tonzmaniac, on admin next season too) and Jeremy. People say Jeremy is lucky but i disagree, he does well in the majority of interleagues he is in for any team.
True Champs are the only team who have not made it to a big final, OK they won the Emerald Division in UIC but the Diamond Division is the top Dawg. This team however can not be taken lightly and will need to show with the likes of Travis, Pommy, Cal and Mike for them to progress here. TC are a hot and cold team that sometimes plays and looks unbeatable but on other occasions they can just suck and that does include Pommy although hes had a fantastic season. True Champs have just as much chance as PFN and LPL do because they have such a good team.
Straight Shots have a big problem and I actually genuinely feel sorry for Nigel. He had players eligable who have now left and players who have always let him down. Chris got MVP but other than that one break run against me has he became the luckiest ever WPC MVP? I think so but he won't complain, LOL. So SS could just have 6 eligable and It will be a tall order for them but hey! this is Nigel and SS, they never give up but I full expect SS to make a stance in the all Cammed season 5.
Xtreme 8 Ball have also had success but not as much as SS, PFN and LPL. They have a great team and I would make it one of the best in the playoffs because what Ben has is the support from whoever he picks and that is so important that the players WANT to play for you. Noob Biscuit is at 6-3 and Adam hasn't had the best season but he will come good in the playoffs as will Eric and Dan. This playoff series might have come at just the right time for X8B and Ben. Watch this space.
The last team is the FORM team Sexy Poolerz who at one point were struggling big style to even make the playoffs but a 5-1-1 finish made sure that they were there and should have won the division in my opinion. Ketan took over as Captain and the players responded by beating everyone put in front of them as they went on a hot run of 5 wins in a row. That garenteed them the playoffs and they even had a outside shot at winning the division because the rest kept losing but SP had to settle for 4th seed but they will need to have some stopping.
Ok a quick look at the Allstars tonight to be run by Rick and Bev. The Premiership have the weaker side but in WPC its never stopped them before, Chris has won in Allstars before and will be a good captain for the Championship and thats who i will give it to as they have the better players. The Championship win (barring Pommy carrying the Premiership with Ant) 7-5. The winners get home room for the WPC World Cup bo3 Series on matches 1 & 3.
THE PLAYOFFS
Match 1
Championship Playoff Match
(1) Break and Run vs (4) Sexy Poolerz
Date and Time: Tuesday 08/11 @ 6pm
Room: Welcome To The Jungle
Ref: Steven
Result this season: Week 3 - 4-2 BNR
Key Players:
BNR - Palp, Petey and Anil
SP - Pascal, Ketan and Ste
This match is the match none of the one to three seeds wanted as SP are the form team and BNR who won IPA at the weekend but lost to PFN in UIC look to add the WPC title to IPA and MLP 7v7. This match will always be very interesting as BNR want to prove they can continuously cut it int he big time as Josh has left and Tanmay didnt get eligable so BNR have to rely on Petey, Ash, Anil and mainly Palpsie must all show up and wanna play to win. SP however will feel very confident this match as they are in some sort of form. Ketan has ran this team very well in my opinion. I like Pete but Ketan is the better captain in my book. I don't know if Conners even still plays but they would need him along with Pas, Ket and Ste. This has the makings of a classic and Steven will enjoy reffing this match and it will go all the way to the decider.
Score: 4-3 SP and the first shock of the playoffs.
Match 2
Premiership Playoff Match
(1) Latino Pool Legends vs (4) Xtreme 8 Ball
Date and Time: Tuesday 08/11 @ 7pm
Room: Logan
Ref: Shelle/Rick(tapes)
Result This Season: Week 4, 4-2 LPL
Key Players:
LPL - Ant, Tino and Truuma
X8B - Ben, Dan, Biscuit
This match is a big match for X8B who only really limped into the playoffs but they are there and thats enough for them. Look at there MLP record and they are a force to be looked at. If you look at the team they play though can they argue that LPL played there best Pool this season in the Regular season will there now be burnout from the players? I doubt it but I know that X8B will think they can topple over a strong LPL team. LPL will be happy they got X8B and not TC or LS but either way LPL should progress unless this is going to be the season of Playoff shocks, but LPL have been the best team in WPC all season so I have to stick with the facts on this one but it will be close again.
Score: LPL win 4-2
Match 3
(2) Pool Fiction vs (3) Straight Shots
Date and Time: Wednesday 08/12 @ 6pm
Room: Bad Times
Ref: TBD
Result This Season: Week 8, 4-2 SS
Key Players:
PFN - Cubby, Stu, Kerry and Lewis
SS - Anyone of the 6 or 7 that are eligable!
So we have a story on each team here. Pool Fiction i spoke about earlier on as this is there last season in WPC. This team was in all WPC seasons and stayed in until this season which is season 4. They wanna become the first team to defend there title and they have a chance but will have to be wary of SS as even though Nigel aint got a lot eligable he still has a few good players in Craig, Charlie and Corey and this will have to be a professional job by PFN but they have the better players but only because so many let Nigel down this season.
Score: 4-1 PFN
Match 4
Premiership Playoff Match
(2) True Champs vs (3) Lucky Shots
Date and Time: Wednesday 08/12 @ 7pm
Room: Intermediate Lounge
Ref: Bryan
Result this Season: Week 8, 4-2 LS
Key Players:
TC - Pommy, Travis, Cal and Mike
LS - Chris, Jeremy and Raymie
So this is the last match up of the First round of the playoffs unless some matches get moved and that might happen. Lucky Shots have had a relitively good season defeating some big sides on the way like BNR they crushed 5-1 but then they drew with Georgia Rebels. True Champs have a serious chance if they can keep focussed and play there best. With Pommy on such good form this season TC have to go in as favourites but Chris who has done a fantastic job captaining in my absence will not give up easily and players like Aaron, Chris himself, Jeremy and Raymie(if he shows) will need to play at 100% along with the players like Simon, J.D and even the player who now holds a unique record for the lowest ever win record in WPC 14.2% but her one win was a very important clinch. This will be a great match.
Score: 4-3 TC
Thanks for rewading this blog and good luck tonight i will post the conference finals blog up after all matches have been completed you are welcome to schedule your own matches just post in shoutbox plz ty
