WPC Season 5, Week ONE!

Yes, hello its me Jason again with the week 1 predictions of this 13 week WPC Season and some awesome match up's this week. More on them later lets take a look at the EXPO from last night. Ant from LPL took it and cammed all his games so single handedly took LPL to joint top of the EXPO Championship along with, yes you guessed it SS! It was a great turn out with every team other than TC(because pommy was too slow) having atleast one player in. Jordy was the sole XP player and got them a runners up spot for his new team in WPC and that was a great effort. LAst season's WPC Champs hosted it in Sweet Dreams and they did ok getting 5 to jump and scoring 8 Points. Jordy and Ant stand out to me though as they kept there league's near the top on there own. If LPL and XP can get more players then X8B and SS(who I think will fight this out) will take some catching. As for the new guys, REGS got replaced by the ultra active CM team, where Lukas was everyones tip to win the KickOff but failed to do so and the surprise was mrs.dequietstorm had a great run giving SPS 5 points with CM only recieving the soletry Point. I still expect them to challenge this season.

As for this week, Please remember to set up your Camtasia properly as the 6v6 matches are all Cam and will now really kick in as there are a lot of teams that are new this season. I had the pleasure of talking to ben the captain from X8B about this coming seasona nd last season this is what was said.

Jason: Hello and welcome to WPC 'The Interview' with Ben from X8b. Welcome ben. Lets start by asking what you thought about Season 4 and what you expect from season 5 withit going to one big league and a 13 week season, and it being all cam?

Ben: hi =) thanks for having me.. season 4 went very smoothly in my eyes, plenty of competition and good clean games through out and i expect nothing but the same for season 5. The one big league format will be a nice change I think because we'll get a chance to play each team instead of keeping focus on our small group within the divisions. A downside that I don't usually like about one big league is only being able to play each team one; no chance to get revenge if/when we lose to them .. Couple of new teams coming in for this season looks like, and a couple merging and all that. The cam rule won't be an issue as long as the ref will be able to handle it and all that jazz. And with the addition of more admins, don't think that'll be a problem. With those new teams coming on board, maybe they'll be less experience and run into troubles with cam setup and playing with it? Idk only time will tell, but it'll be interesting to see which new teams come out the gate and make a name for themselves

Jason: Thank you for the great answer. What teams are the ones to wtch this season in your eyes because you have been tipped for a playoff spot. Can you win it like some of your bullish players think? And do you have any tricks up your sleeve in the player department?

Ben: welp, right off the bat gotta watch out for XP, that team will be dominant for sure I'd think.. seeing them make it to MLP playoffs, and now with the addition of some players from PFN, they'll make it deep into the season. LPL, they're consistantly good seems like and will most likely be good yet again. Pool Outlaws, don't know much about them besides they play in Under Pressure I think? They might get some of the players from the cam comps running in there and pull out a nice team. UO, SPS, MIB, FR .. don't really know those teams and have yet to look at their players, but you never know what to expect so we'll bring our best for sure. Now about our team.. we'd like to have the confidence of making it to the playoffs again this season. Unfortunately, we've been having some bad luck when making it there though lol.. PRO, MLP 7v7, MLP 5v5, WPC.. we've lost Rd 1 each time making it to playoffs in those interleagues. We've been having to rough luck when it comes down to crunch time, but hopefully that'll break soon. And we do have some guys trying to rally up some new players for us lol, so guess you'll just have to wait and see how that turns out.

Jason: Again a good answer now for a random question. who would you want on your interleague team that has never played for X8B if you could choose anyone off ypool?

Ben: Dam lol good question. Obviously I would want you on the team because you're my secret lover according to some people <3 lol jk, ummm.. I'd probably have to pick Ant, even though I know he'd never play for us because he can't stand Stephen I think. Everybody knows him, everybody knows how good he is, and he'd be able to pull off wins week after week. Idk if I just put my foot in my mouth, I don't really follow his stats in interleagues, but I can imagine their pretty solid for the most part.

Jason: LOL great answer and yes Ant has very good stats for LPL. Kerry went for Ketan, you gone for Ant and Me(I will take that lol) I am going to keep a chart I think lol. Who will be your star player this season and why and also give me a name of a player less well known who you expect a big season from?

Ben: For star players on the team, two guys stick out: Adam and Conor. Something about these guys that when they're playing at their best, I feel more secure for a win. Adam's a good all around player. He'll go for the run when he sees it and has the ability to snook pretty solid too. He's very supportive of the team which is nice to see as well. Conor comes in clutch for us when we need him to. He has a run break in him and has nice control with the cue ball. However, he has a mouth on him and will speak out when things get heated, which might be the kryptonite to his superman (lol, yeh that sounds lame). As for the not so known players I'd like to pick myself lol.. many know me as the captain of the team, but I'd rather be turning heads with my playing ability. I don't claim to be good, because I'm far from it ( still missing those dam top rights =\ ) .. but if I were to pull off a couple wins here and there maybe I'd get a bit more credit to my name.. Dan (big_pokerdan) has been getting plenty of experience in and I'd like to see him have a nice season for us. As long as he can keep his nerves together and pull off the wins when we need him to the most, he could become a nice surprise to most. But, like I said before, we might be getting some new guys on board this season; it's still up in the air atm, but who knows what'll happen.

Jason: Well your not allowed to say your not very good lol. I have 2 more questions for you one serious and then i will finish on my signeture cheese question. Where do YOU think you will finish and are you worried about UO after the scare they gave you last season?

Ben: Ask that question to any captain and they'd like to see their team finish at the top for the season. With the guys we have, we have the potential of making it to the finals as long as things go our way. Ideally, I put ourselves amongst the top 4 behind LPL, LS, XP .. There is going to plenty of competition going around with 14 teams in. As for UO, gotta expect the best from them each time. We'll make sure to not put ourselves in a position like that again (hopefully, lol).

Jason: well ben its been a pleasure and i am sur eit will be a good season for you and X8B just keep conor in lone and you will be fine, I will end on my last question what is your favourite cheese and why?

Ben: Hmm, I saw this question coming and I couldn't decide between two. The first would be American Singles.. a nice grilled cheese sandwich with that stuff, delicious. But the close second choice would be string cheese, lol.. something about peeling bit by bit off brings out the kid in me. And gotta love the dumb riddles that come along with them.

Jason: lol you been a great sport gl this season

Ben: tyvm thanks again for having me, take it ez

So thats what Ben had to say and X8B have a interesting match this week. Lets crack on with the matches.

Match 1

Xtreme Poolerz vs True Champs

Date and Time: Monday 7th September @ 6pm

Room: Break It Up

Ref: Nigel
Admin and tape watcher: Shelle

Probable Teams:

XP - Cubby, Kerry, Indiana_elite, Jordy, Nick and Pro.jeremy

TC - Dawn, Mike, Pommy, Travis, Bryan and Ross(kingvaughan)

Key Men:

XP: Jordy

TC: Pommy

The Script:

So this is my new way of doing WPC predictions. The script is how will the game go. XP were meant to have Jordy as Captain, but now thats gone to Cubby as the PFN crew come on in to help out a already strong XP team in the likes of former PFNer Indiana and Jeremy seems like hes back from the Cases ban and Kerry espeicially does well in WPC. They play a TC team who have added Bryan(pastfan) and Ross(kingvaughan) to there already strong roster with Dawn, Pommy and Trav already there. This match will be a close one where the favourites for WPC XP will need to show they can win big matches and this match is as good as it starts for XP. TC on the other hand will be looking to show me that I have there season finish completely wrong. This will go to thematch 6 and I see the opening match a shut out.

Score:

3-3 and Pommy saves TC yet again.

Match 2

Freedom vs Lucky Shots

Date and Time: Tuesday 8th September @ 6pm

Room: Beetle Spot

Ref: Steven

Probable Teams:

FR: Petey, Ashley, Dan, Sukio, Chris and Kimbo

LS: Aaron, Chris, Tony, mvp.douchebag, Shane and JD

Key Men:

FR: Sukio

LS: JD

The Script:

This is a tough opening match away from home for the Champions! Freedom come back into WPC and will most probably stay the whole season and will turn a few heads. Lucky Shots come in as the Champions with a brand new Captain looking to leave his stamp on WPC. JD is the key man for LS because the question is has he improved on last season's successful season? If so he will be as big as the likes of Tony(who amazingly clinched the WPC World Cup for LS) and Chris aswell as Aaron himself. Can Aaron handle the pressures of picking the right team at the right time to play. This will be a tight game but Freedom you know aslong as they get Kimbo back will have the edge. Without Kimbo I see LS edging it.

Score:

4-2 Freedom in the first shock of the season.

Match 3

Xtreme 8 Ball vs Straight Shots

Date and Time: Tuesday 8th September @ 7pm

Room: Alive

Ref: Drew
Admin To Watch Tapes: Bev

Probable Teams:

X8B: James, Ben, Eric, Adam, Conor and Sattyyy

SS: Nigel, Charlie, Chris, Laura, Liam and Jon

Key Men:

X8B: James

SS: Chris

The Script:

Well this is a unbeleivable match the Computer threw up! X8B and SS have been battling each other in the UIC Swiss competition in which SS took all season and this is the first match of the new WPC season for both. Now SS have a new Captain in Shelle and co Capt in Nish so will be looking for a good start in this all cam season of WPC. X8B will be quietly confident like Ben said in the interview, he wants a performance straight away. If things go the way it should the script will see that shelle will need Chris and Charlie to show up as in WPC they will be her most important players this season. Jon is good on cam also and dont count out Nigel playing a big part now he can relax and just play. X8B will look to James, Stephen and Conor to produce the goods this season. If they play well X8B will play well.

Score:

4-2 X8B with the big three performing.

Match 4

Cue Masters vs Money In The Bank

Date and Time: Wednesday 9th September @ 6pm

Room: Cushion

Ref: Rick/Bev

Probable Teams:

CM: Luke, Craig, Chele, ll_plan_ll, Fr0sty and John

MIB: Rich, Scoobz, Mick, Wolf, Candy and James

Key Men:

CM: Craig

MIB: Rich

The Script:

Two brand new teams to WPC for season 5 although CM have been here before and will stay a lot longer this time around. CM are the stronger of these two as MIB only have 6 signed up so I should getthe Probable Team right for that one! MIB have a tough task here because Craig as Captain and Chele as Co captain have been around the block and will take all the beating on the pool table. Throw in John and Frosty with Luke and you actually have a team that should be right up witht he playoff hunt this season. CM come into WPC as one of the favourites to win it along with the likes of LS, LPL and XP. MIB will be looking to finish top 10 I would think and they will need a few more players to achieve this.

Score:

CM will easily take it without breaking sweat 5-1 CM

Match 5

Pool Outlaws vs Latino Pool Legends

Date and Time: Wednesday 9th September @ 7pm

Room: Bohemian Rhapsody

Ref: Ogges

Probable Teams:

PO: Drew, Bluntsmoker, Crozzzy, Maxbite,

LPL: Ant, Tino, Mile, Korb3n, O1d_school and Truuma

Key Men:

PO: Drew

LPL: Ant

The Script:

This is a great match even though PO only have 4 registered players, that will definately have to change! LPL however last seasons revelation in the Regular season look good for a big season again this season. They have Ant as Captain and Korben(ex Allstar) back in there ranks now. Truuma and Tino will also be hungry to win again this season as LPL want the Title back! PO will do a lot this season if they can get 6 to the table every week. For that only time will tell. LPL they should make the playoffs and really need to win big this week.

Score:

5-1 LPL

Match 6

8 Ball Crushers vs Ultimate Outlaws

Date and Time: Wednesday 9th September @ 7pm

Room: Hang Out

Ref: Bryan

Probable Teams:

8BC: Trey, Bev, Piper, David, Mike and Corona

UO: Reb, Rebs.angel, Prince, Evil_drunkness, Justin and B_ama

Key Men:

8BC: Bev

UO: Rebs.angel

The Script:

Well, Well, Well UO play 8BC in WPC and it is just after the whole Bev and UO affair where she was told she couldn't talk to sertain people apparently. UO kicked Bev out and now they find themselves squaring off against each other. UO had a amazing season last season and will look to try and win there first playoff place this season. If Prince can perform and the rest of his team join in then we will have a shock this season for sure. Bev and Trey will really have to work hard for there team and getting players eligable. This match will be close but UO have the better players for me.

Score:

4-2 UO

Match 7

Sexy Poolerz vs Simply Pool Souls

Date and Time: Thursday 10th September @ 7pm

Room: Bicycle Race

Ref: Shelle

Probable Teams:

SP: Snooky, Ketan, Pete, Aabeel, Pascal and Ste

SPS: Monte, Kat, Twisted_insane, missfitz, Daquiet and mrsdequiet

Key Men/Woman:

SP: Snooky

SPS: Kat

The Script:

Well welcome to WPC SPS and this week you have a half shot at a upset! SP are not very strong starters in Interleagues so this season they have to come out of the blocks with all guns blazing or Monte and Crew will gun you down. Kat and Monte have had Cammed IL experience in PLC with PFN under none other than Cubby. Monte is a good alround player but Kat is better. This week will tell us how SPS will be able to hold there own against one of the more established IL teams. If they do that then SPS can beat SP but SP are very impressive at home and will take some beating so this is my shock of the week.

Score:

3-3 Drew Kat saves SPS!

There is the first blog of the WPC season with the interview enjoy all and PLEASE leave comments ont he comment page thanks. GL all and EXPO next week is in Bohemian Rhapsody at 6pm Take it easy WPC!!!
