They Finally Do IT!!!

Welcome to the last WPC season 3 post from me Jason. After 17 weeks of hard faught action it all combined to finish on Wednesday night at about 9pm Cases time. Pool Fiction who was the early season favouites with Latino Pool Legends faced the somewhat surprise package Lucky Shots who only just sneaked past Dead Strokes in the Western Conference finals.

The early part of the season went well for both teams. Luckyshots after a shocking start in week one losing 5-1 to a reletivly unknown High Times team(more on them later), really kicked into gear from week two and they went on a tear all the way until they lost to yes you guessed in High Times. High times were a joy to have in WPC they went the whole season undefeated but did not win the regular championship. That was taken by Lucky Shots. Teams where pulled out or left, Freedom, Rank Monster and Cue Masters to name three. Rank Monster and Freedom were chucked out whereas Cue Masters left because of certain reasons. Cue Masters are back in Season 4.

Last seasons champions Latino Pool Legends were trying to do what Magic Pool (who also pulled out but are returning for season 4) couldn't do and win it back to back. They struggled in the regular season and when True Champs came into WPC they had a deserperate record but the came at LPL like anything but they just fell short so LPL snuck into the playoffs.

Pool Cuez again left and they were replaced by Xtreme 8 Ball who took on the record of PCZ and that was in second miles behind Pool Fiction. However with players that ben bought to the table in himself and James(l2eal.ownage) they were doing very well. They pushed Pool Fiction to the wire but Pool Fiction held on. I think personally this is because of Ben always playing players like Eric and Dan. X8B had a good season and faced off in the playoffs against the quiet team of WPC Eastern Division Sexy Poolerz. They had a excellent season finishing thrid after a few dodgy results they were comfortably in the playoffs, where they had to rely on players like Pascal and Ste. Not a bad 2 players i must say!

Dead Strokes and Straight Shots were challenging for the last playoff place until Cue Masters Pulled out and that enabled botht o get tot he playoffs, which was well deserved.

So the playoffs went as planned really except the Dead Stroke vs High timez where HT were rolled over by DS. Dead Strokes were flying and they played Lucky Shots int he Conference finals as LS squeezed past Straight Shots 4-3. The Dead Strokes vs Lucky Shots game went all the way down to game 6. Chuck wasnt on form and Luckyshots were again able to just sneek past into the WPC World Cup bo3 Series.

Pool Fictions route to the WPC World Cup bo3 Series was a lot more simple. They DESTROYED LPL 4-1 in the first round. Mean while X8B were beat by SP, when you wait for Dan to show up you know your screwed! Sexy Poolerz were looking like a team that could beat Pool Fiction.

The Conference finals were good for PFN and SP. In very close matches Pool Fiction came away with the 4-2 victory and setting up the title decider with Lucky Shots.

The first match kicked off and Lucky Shots were big under dogs! Pool Fiction Captain Ogges bought a strong team of Kerry, Cubby, Jamie, Andy, Ry Ry and Lewis. Lucky Shots made the decision to drop Simon and replace him with Bev. So Luckyshots team looked like Jason, Tam, Perry, Bev, Chris and Jeremy. The match started well for Lucky Shots with Jason calling Chris to play first as he had to go early. Pool Fiction called Kerry. This was a good start to the finals as Kerry was playing very well but Chris is the better player and he cleaned up to take LS into a 1-0 lead. Then came the first bit of controversy. Bev was called and Ogges promptly called Cubby to play her. This match started and Bev made a remark about how long he was taking or about him snookering, to which cubby replied you concentrate on your game and i will concentrate on mine. It was good advice as the PFNer took the win to level it up. Then came the best match of Tuesday. Perry called against RyRy and I must admit I thought RyRy would take this match. Perry however played out of his skin and when RyRy snookered him he banked his way out of it and potted so LS took a 2-1 lead and this was becoming very very interesting. I then called Jeremy in the hope that Ogges would call either Jamie or Lewis, but he didnt and Andy took a pretty comfortable win. He really has got his form back and although Jeremy could have won I thought Andy had it in the bag. 2-2 and now with Me and Tam left for LS and Jamie and Lewis left for PFN things were getting interesting. Obviously I called myself next and had to play Lewis. Only one winner, he did not give me a chance, it was a great clearence and PFN moves into the lead for the first and most probably the most important time. Tam played Jamie last and Tam was going to try and force this into the tiebreaker. Both players started poorly with tam going for a run then missing and Jamie had it open. He fucked up and gave Tam a big chance but it did not work and Jamie after a few stutters took match 1 of the WPC World Cup bo3 Series.

Match 2 however was very interesting. there was a few changes from match 1. Poolfiction named Kerry, Ogges, Lewis, Jamie, Andy and Soubahn. Lucky Shots bought back Simon, added raymie and Jeremy and Bev dropped out. Match 1 was a old rivelry of Simon and Jamie facing off as Ogges went on the attack away from home. This was a boring crap match where no one wanted to win but someone had too and it was Jamie who when he has to will win very ugly. 1-0 to PFN. Match 2 was just as crappy for a finals maybe the pressure gwetting to Me and Kerry. Kerry should have won it about 5 times before i won it. She missed banks but most of all put herself in them positions. So 1-1 then came the runbreak! Raymie broke ran Ogges in a masterclas for it to become 2-1 to LS and again LS were in the driving seat. Then the most boring 1 hour you could ask for as Andy and Chris forgot the object of Pool is to pot balls. In the end after everyone had fell asleep Andy came out of top of a big win to haul PFN back in it as they looked for the win they missed out on on the last two seasons.
Then Perry played Soubahn but he made a crappy shot and left soubahn with a run so as they say the rest is history. Match 6 was Tam against lewis. Tam had never lost to lewis before this apparently. Well Tam went for the run, failed and the Lewis went for a run and missed. Tam then had a couple of good shots but he had to completely get his english right. He didnt and was left with a bank. He had a great go but missed and then Lewis ran it out for a historic Pool Fiction Victory.
